I have been working at Dairy Queen full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Great first employment while in High School. Prepares you for future employment or career opportunities not only in the food service industry. Provides the opportunity to excel in customer service, team work, time management, and problem solution. Teaches you the importance of being punctual and scheduling outside activities around your work schedule. Loyal and productive employees are competitively compensated.

    Cons

No insurance or vacation and the only two holidays off are Christmas Day and Thanksgiving Day because store is closed those days.

I worked at Dairy Queen part-time

    Pros

Personally, I loved working a Dairy Queen. There were many pros. A few of which are that most of the other employees are very nice and are easy to get along with. Not only that but the managers would give the employees equal opportunities. You would work in the field you applied for and then at some point, the manager would teach you about the other fields in the store.

    Cons

However, there were a few cons. One of which is that the management staff will sometimes take sides during a situation. Not only that but the managers would also assume that you would be able to stay past your shift, and if you weren't able to, the managers would get angry.

    Advice to Management

Stop taking sides, teach the assistant managers to be a lot more respectful and also teach the hospitality staff to be more respectful as well.

Comfortable work environment, flexible hours, excellent for younger employees, great experience opportunity, guaranteed break for lunch or dinner, great for a first job.

I have been working at Dairy Queen full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great caring culture and mostly franchisee focus.
Fan food speaks to how our customers think of us and we try hard to instill that focus within our franchisees.
Some great leaders and team members.
    Iconic brand

    Cons

Not all departments seem to care what impact their decisions/products impact the team members at the location level. Not all departments' goals are aligned, leading to a sense of being at odds and disconnected. A bit too litigation phobic

    Advice to Management

Don't be so fearful of taking a firmer stance on the important things not just the obvious things.

I worked at Dairy Queen full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I had a flexible schedule and there was always work to be done. I enjoyed staying busy and teaching new employees the procedures and standards of Dairy Queen.

    Cons

Lack of employees created too stressful of an environment for people. Also had way outdated equipment.

    Advice to Management

Invest in the business equipment and that way it'll become more enticing of a place to work at; eliminating the lack of employees issue.
