    Pros

Had a stable work environment and many long term employees. Decent benefit package. Overall, would recommend as a safe, stable place to work.

    Cons

One of the cons of working there was the pay. You were not going to get paid a lot of money regardless of your position. More of a stepping stone type job.

    Advice to Management

My biggest advice to management would be to promote from within rather than hiring high priced employees from other firms. Would make a big difference

I worked at Daiwa Capital Markets America full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Solid Japanese Equity Research product

    Cons

Duel management roles. For every manager there is a Japanese and American co-manager. The Japanese manager has final say.

    Advice to Management

    Cut the bureaucracy.

    Pros

    Not much over time.

    Cons

Company distinguishes employees from HQ and locally hired. These managers and employees from HQ don't even listen to suggestions from locally hired employees.

    Advice to Management

Be open for changes. Give employees opportunities to grow.

I have been working at Daiwa Capital Markets America full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Working in Daiwa's IT department is not bad if you are on the last leg of your career or do not mind being insulted and spoken to like you are trash.

    Cons

There aren't many but two or three individuals in the IT department have little self-respect and believe they know everything therefore they speak to and address colleagues like peasants. Management needs to nip this.

    Advice to Management

Advice to management would be for management to ask the opinion of other team members rather than asking the same one or two people for their professional opinions. Management may then realize they have authenticate gems in their department.

I have been working at Daiwa Capital Markets America full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Most of the American staff is great to work with. Pay is great. Fairly good benefits. Great vacation allowance but sometimes difficult to take days and strict no carry over policy.

    Cons

Senior management tends to be elitist, especially from Japan. They are very out of touch with what is going on at the staff level. No culture. No goals or mission. There is no sense of purpose or mission. Very little employee engagement.

    Advice to Management

    Engage middle managers and staff.
