I worked at Dako full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some of the people make it worth waking up every morning, and are truly a wonder to interact with daily. The location is amazing, really close to the beach.

    Cons

Some people are controlling, devious, and do not do anything to progress the company's goals, but rather their own. The work can get sometimes become monotonous, and doesn't really evolve. Not much room for upward growth.

    Pros

Remote employee, so was insulated from the politics.Decent benefits because of acquisition by Agilent

    Cons

There was a lot backstabbing occurring because older Dako employees felt threatened. Senior management are trying to stay relevant and protect their jobs because of the acquisition.

    Advice to Management

Treat your Field People like the assets they are instead of a commodity

I worked at Dako full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Beautiful location near Santa Barbara, CA USA.
    Mostlt friendly, casual culture
Flexible schedules and great benefits package
    Excellent healthcare, 401(k) matching

    Cons

Few to little chance of advancement
    Nepotism rampant in certain divisons
Few to no opportunities to attend conferences or continuing education
Salaries not entirely competitive with industry standards
Rank favortism, marginalization and rumor spreading to discredit employees or to get them to leave voluntarily

    Advice to Management

While graveyards may be filled with indespensable men, you need to take a hard look in the mirror. There are rank weeds in your senior management team who stifle or even remove employees who are viewed as a threat to managers or who strive to work beyond the confines of the structured ""bins" one is thrown into. There are some extremely talented team members who are underutilized or ostercized for trying to succeed. To truly flourish and outperform the competition, one must cultivate individulas and let them show how well and how high they can soar.

    Pros

Dako employees are really knowledgeable and proud about the products they manufacture and their contribution to helping patients get a fast and reliable diagnostic.

    Cons

Dako was a great, family owned company. Then, through a succession of acquisitions, it somehow lost the spirit - and some of the talents - that characterized it. Acquired by Agilent Technologies in 2012, the Dako name remains, but the company is run by Agilent Technologies.
