I have been working at Dallas Independent School District full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The campus work environment is Family oriented. The staff embodies the idea of teamwork. In terms of communication, as with any large organization there is need for improvement but open dialogue is welcomed.

    Cons

For the CIC role, there are No bonuses and no pay raises. There are a lot of hours that go into planning. You have no admin authority so sometimes staff doesn't always meet deadline requests and you can take no action.

    Advice to Management

Beyond the campus level (communication is solid there) communicate to staff why their salaries are not increasing before contract season so that they can make decisions for their families.

I worked at Dallas Independent School District full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The pay was up there as far as teaching salaries go but you are going to earn it.

    Cons

Complete lack of support and a feeling of isolation depending on the school. My school put the pressure on the teachers to handle behavior problems regardless of how severe. Would recommend doing your research...some schools have amazing admin. some schools are run by the kids. Don't take the first phone call you get, I made that mistake.

    Advice to Management

Quit transferring bad principals to schools that need the most help.

    Cons

Your will floquat depending on holidays and schools. Also make sure you have a backup job whenever the holidays come up because you will not getting paid for those off days.

I worked at Dallas Independent School District full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They pay more than other districts. There are always vacancies. It's a place to start your teaching career. I recommend leaving after a year. Get your feet wet. Then leave.

    Cons

There is not sufficient or consistent training. Incompetent and unimaginative. Too big and disorganized. Human Capital Management takes too long to do things.
