This district doesn't compensate employees for their dedication and hard work. Promotions are slow and are often given to friends rather than qualified persons.

I have been working at Dallas Independent School District full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The campus work environment is Family oriented. The staff embodies the idea of teamwork. In terms of communication, as with any large organization there is need for improvement but open dialogue is welcomed.

    Cons

For the CIC role, there are No bonuses and no pay raises. There are a lot of hours that go into planning. You have no admin authority so sometimes staff doesn't always meet deadline requests and you can take no action.

    Advice to Management

Beyond the campus level (communication is solid there) communicate to staff why their salaries are not increasing before contract season so that they can make decisions for their families.

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at Dallas Independent School District full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The new pay system Dallas uses for it's teachers is great; especially if you are doing your job.

    Cons

The new pay system requires you to document everything and really requires you to perform to a high degree at almost all times.

    Advice to Management

There needs to be some reworking of departments and management that will start with a strong superintendent that would need to stay with the district for 5 or more years.

I have been working at Dallas Independent School District (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good salary, great vacations and unique experience with students from different backgrounds.

    Cons

Too much stress on the student's, curriculum does not make sense. Administration and Executive Directors are on you all the time. No space to growth, and so much supervision makes you feel like a student, not a professional educator.
