I worked at Danaher Motion full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Danaher Buisiness System linkes every aspect of each business unit together to keep focus on long range goals.
With such a wide range of products, a salesperson always had something to offer each account, regardless of the industry.

    Cons

A very political work environment. Empoyees are a liability and short term asset. Willing to layoff productive empoyees to boost the bottom line, then wehn buisiness regains momentum, would spend months and $$$ to train a new empoyee.
Too many product managers vying for a salespersons mindshare.

    Advice to Management

    Be more honest with employees.

    Pros

    Great learning environment
    Fast career growth
    Great raises
    Excellent mentorship and rotational programs

    Cons

Not a people friendly company, it's all about the metrics

    Advice to Management

Need to focus more on the people. Not talking about the rockstars, the every day people that execute the metrics that are so vital for the health of the business.

    Pros

People are held accountable for results. Tools are given to analyze data and implement change.

    Neutral Outlook

I have been working at Danaher Motion full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Resources of a large parent company; you work with mostly smart, talented people, global opportunities to move - of course you are expected to be mobile - if you are not - you had better leave the organization

    Cons

Where to start - associates are NOT the most valued asset - what a joke. Budget, budget, budget is all you ever hear at Danaher - you would swear the company is operating as if it is going out of business; the culture is oppressive - you are EXPECTED to work 24/7 - including vacation. Don't even think of going anywhere on the face of the earth without being connected and checking your email. Work/life in non existent. And in the opinion of many - one of the rudest cultures and work environments around. They actually do engagement surveys every YEAR and do nothing with them.

    Advice to Management

Get a clue - stop doing surveys without listening to your people. Stop cultivating a culture of work till you drop dead. Truly promote a culture of employees are your most valued asset - because right now they are NOT

    Doesn't Recommend

    Pros

Fair amount of product knowledge to be gained. The coworkers were great people and i still have lasting friendships. If you are a grad of a top MBA program their is room at the top for you. Growing from the bottom up is impossible

    Cons

Quality problems with their products. Lack of single point of leadership. Focused strictly on manufacturing sector of the business and sales is only seen as a necessity, not a means to grow the business. Price increases seen as a way to increase gross profit instead of a way to balance out costs. No clear communication lines between sales and manufacturing or even design.

    Advice to Management

Eliminate senior management positions. Too many chiefs in this organization and not enough followers.
