    Pros

Compensation and benefits. Allows for international travel.

    Cons

Poor leadership. Lack of balance between work and personal life.

    Advice to Management

Become more customer focused and less focused on monthly revenue. Place more emphasis on new product development and stop trying to suck more income out of old products.

    Pros

Danaher is a large "corporation" but only a holding company for a lot of different companies.

    Cons

The "corporation" is not directly involved with the many business units it owns. The main players in the company have been very successful with the business ventures they have purchased. They are basically investments brokers and mostly buy and dismantle companies. There is an abundance of cash and a lot of stock has been sold as many of the dominant owners are retiring. Beware if you see or hear that your company is or will be purchased by the Danaher Corporation

    Advice to Management

There is no advise to give because of the way things are structured. It's the "Danaher Way" or no way.

    Pros

Many internal companies to transfer to, however, there is minimal management support to transfer to other locations or companies.Large company with many opportunities for learning, growing and training. The best thing about working there is the size of the company and the discounts we receive from companies like craftsman and Fluke.

    Cons

A lot political non-sense internally and incompetent middle and upper management, Danaher corporate has alot good ideas and really tries to incorporate companies they purchase into the DBS, however, old manangement has a hard time correctly adapting the DBS concepts and quickly delegates blame to cover up their own mistakes.

    Advice to Management

Do not listen to the management of the companies they purchase, because they will only tell them what they want to hear.

    Pros

Good financially stable company. If a business cannot grow, they have the cash to acquire adjacent Companies to reach the growth expectation. Good focus on process, which provides a great place for young talent to learn how to run a business.

    Cons

Danaher is all about getting the number. They have little respect for ethics and people that work in the building.

    Advice to Management

Start over.... there is more to life than meeting the number!

    Pros

Good experience early in your career. Great lean manufacturing practices. Ability to impact business from the beginning, great resume builder.

    Cons

Every person is responsible for at least one and a half jobs. The expectations are unrealistic. No training. No work life balance.

    Advice to Management

Promotions from within should be from the entire business not just from a pool of MBA's. More communication across Danaher businesses.

    Pros

Decreased management to leaner levels. Pay and benefits remained the same for the first 6 months.

    Cons

Upon taking over a very large multinational medical instrument company cut out all travel for some departments and attendance to national meetings. Removed copiers, stopped replacing ceiling lights. Forbid upgrading computers, took back cell phones and other communication devices. increased costs to field support persons for car, cell phones. Over worked field support. Many resignations. Senior persons taking jobs with competitors or taking lay off package.

    Advice to Management

Wake up or abandon ship. This is only the tip of the iceberg ahead.

I worked at Danaher full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Lot of autonomy, good salaries and bonuses

    Cons

    Lack of management, no communication

    Advice to Management

Don't penalize someone for being out sick. I missed two days in six months and was told that nobody ever misses work there. In fact, there are people who have been there for years who have never missed a single day of work. I was not hired permanently because of this, but they would not tell me that. They just kept overlooking me for open positions that I was well-qualified for.

I have been working at Danaher full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    continuous changes and process oriented

    Cons

continual cost cutting measures with head count reductions happening for the past 3 years. All happening in December.

    Advice to Management

    Needs to communicate more effectively.
Internal memo congratulated and thanked the teams for making Q2 a success. We made the numbers for Wall Street and received our Bonus. The next line said that we should expect cost cutting measures in Q3 and Q4 (i.e. head count reductions)

I worked at Danaher full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Salary: That is how they get you. Remember that the grass is NOT always greener!
DBS: Danaher Business System. (Toyota Business System)
Employees that were working at the Danaher Business Unit prior to be acquired by Danaher.

    Cons

Engineering's time was spent on fixing the existing products. No R&D. No Marketing. No dedicated outside sales force. Manufacturing runs the show. Cut costs, cut costs, cut costs. The customer does not come first. Employees are assets to be used accordingly.

    Advice to Management

Any advice in contrast to Manufacturing or Accounting's ideals will be disregarded or considered to be provided by someone who's opinion is useless.
