I have been working at Dandy Mini Marts part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The best thing about working here is that I'm close to home, I know the people that come in from day to day and I'm comfortable. When one is comfortable at their job they can work harder and get more done in a day's work than if they are worried about if they will preform well enough.

    Cons

Handling upset customers would be a big downfall of working here. Learning how to deal with angry customers can be challenging because everyone is complex in their own ways.

I worked at Dandy Mini Marts full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

As a Deli Coordinator,I received life insurance benefit paid by the company and accrued PTO (paid time off)

    Cons

Seems to be a lack of goal-oriented, lazy, inconsiderate co-workers to contend with.

    Advice to Management

Please consider not hiring family members as working associates at your stores. The one I was employed at had two sets of Mothers and daughters working and then a brother and sister.

    Pros

Easy job to get a job there.

    Cons

Budgeted payroll work hours are insufficient to execute required tasks and provide good customer service. Corporate office is out of touch with store and local customer base. Too much is spent on pet projects while basic systems like POS and gas pumps are antiquated and neglected. Management exhibits favoritism in work load and discipline. Pay is significantly below area average for similar positions. Expect to work during unpaid meal breaks. Turnover is about 100%

    Advice to Management

Institute a training program such as "Dandy College." Raise pay scale to at least area average. Ensure stores are in compliance with Labor Law regarding working conditions and breaks. Add at least one person per shift whose only responsibility is to deal with customers and free up everyone else for all the other tasks needed to operate the store.

I worked at Dandy Mini Marts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Meeting new people, building bonds with customers, providing customer service that people deserve and want.

    Cons

Management lacks greatly within the corporate structure. Employees are starting at minimum wage and are yet to see the pay raises promised during employment, although employees are sometimes responsible for more than what their wage bracket is. Lunches are not properly enforced resulting in employees working during lunch periods due to understaffing. Handling upset customers can be a bit of a struggle at times, with no corporate backing. Maintenance lacks as well with many stores needing repairs that get overlooked for long periods of time. Employees who openly admit to daily use of drugs get overlooked by corporate, although there is a company wide policy regarding this.

    Advice to Management

Travel to the stores more, see how your employees work so hard to achieve your success. Enforce the drug policy, and drug test more frequently. Properly maintain your stores not only for esthetics, but for the safety of customers as well as employees. Raise and compensate your employees according to the amount of work they do that gets unseen.
