    Advice to Management

Highly Unlikely....if You're Not the Right Race

I worked at Darden full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Food isn't to bad but that is all I can think of, the menu has some good items. And they do have some good regular customers,

    Cons

They do not care about you as a person or appreciate anything they do. They continue to favor those that don't work hard and tolerate gossiping. And if something goes wrong they target the person they feel they can, without looking at the facts. Just to prove a point.

I have been working at Darden full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you make the "list" you will get promoted fast. Best way is to come in as an intern or basic analyst.... you have their attention. Come in higher or older and you are generally ignored.

    Cons

You will go nowhere if you do not make the list or are unwilling to "kiss the ring". It is really the cornerstone of promotional strategy. If you are willing to make the folks in power feel important, you will do well. Refuse, and you will go nowhere.

I worked at Darden full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you start and stay well they tend to promote from within. Once you make it past the individual contributor level, the financial rewards can be substantial.

Once you achieve "golden child" status, you can do no wrong.

    Cons

Getting off on the right foot seems non-deterministic. Some really talented and smart people are lumped into the "poor performance" category with no way out. The only solution for them is to move on.

Dealing with the "golden children" must be very measured. Saying the wrong thing to the wrong person will quickly move a person into the "poor performance" category.

You are expected to "beat up" your fellow coworker. Being supportive and helpful is not a company value.

    Advice to Management

You do you, but I sure as hell won't work there.

I worked at Darden full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Pre darden take over, yardhouse was a great place to work. Good money, good food, good managers. Darden messed it all up.

    Cons

I was fired for being honest. It was ubsurd. I made a mistake and was honest. They fired me anyhow at the worst possible time. They even made me come in uniform and all after waiting a few days. Terrible place to work. To this day I hate that place.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of certain mangers who lower level employees seem to hate. There is a good reason for their hatred. You have some terrible mangers working for your company.

I have been working at Darden part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

If you're a server, you can make some good fast cash

    Cons

HORRIBLE management that does not know what they're doing. Too picky about little things that don't matter and ignore larger, more important issues at hand. No respect for their employees that actually work hard and they play favorites. The only way to get them to listen to you is if you're loud and obnoxious. If you're a good worker they're straight up rude to you. They always put you in the same section. Host stand is totally disorganized.

    Advice to Management

Hire managers that 1) knows how to talk to their employees and 2) knows what they're doing.
