    I worked at Darden full-time

    Pros

Upward mobility with hard work to a certain level.

    Cons

Trying to change too much too fast. Putting the cart before the horse. No to little training on new systems.

    Advice to Management

Stop trying to be the industry leader by making too many unsupported changes. The backbone of the company is becoming weak by trying to pile too many layers on operations management responsibilities and promoting people who aren't ready just to support company growth.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at Darden full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Partners outside of your team are highly motivated, knowledgeable, eager to help.
-Some employees have been there for 10+ years and are very happy with their career growth and positions.
-The Orlando office is beautiful, spacious, and clean.
-Events are fun and the food is outstanding.

    Cons

-Severely understaffed where labor is needed most, in corporate operations.
-Technologically stunted. Tremendous amounts of money spent on tools, but not the people to operate those tools. No real hope for improvement on this front.
-For newer positions, duties are scattered and unfocused.
-For newer positions, there is no path for upward mobility. Only lateral movement within the organization.
-Across leadership, there is a severe lack of technological competency.
-No utilization of recommended business practices and software development methodologies.
-Highly immature and inefficient tech department. Similarly sized organizations produce significantly more in terms of their digital products for the same budgets or less!
-Depending on your role, pay can be significantly under industry standard. Negotiations on base salary are not encouraged.

    Advice to Management

Reassess labor needs. There are many teams making a very good case for requiring additional heads.
Attempt to institute some kind of structure for digital and technology teams' development cycles. Try some established project management methodology and stick to it.

I worked at Darden (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Huge company that offered an immense amount of discount from other restaurants and/or services. Yardhouse is a great and fun atmosphere!

    Cons

They took a place that really cared and focused about the training of new employees to ensure the restaurants success, to dumbing down training material so that almost anyone could pass. I saw Yardhouse go from having THE best team of employees to mediocre ones at best now.

    Advice to Management

Training material needs to be harder, and management needs to make sure that no person is given an easy pass when they dont know their material like they should.

    Pros

Great Staff and food. Good atmosphere.

    Cons

Management was a little weird. Felt more like a corporation than a stand alone restaurant. Servers had to pay for extra help.

    Pros

Schedule is very flexible; easy to switch with coworkers; training as server was very thorough.

    Cons

Guests are extremely variable and so are ours; however this is to be expected. Managers' priority is business not staff most of the time.
