I worked at Darden full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The benefits package, discount on personal dining card, friendly environment. Lots of celebrations take place when the company does exceptionally well

    Cons

The way in which they use a goal oriented system is beyond absurd. Technology seems to be quite on the low end as far as processing information goes. Why are we scanning papers still? They will not advance you if you did not go above and beyond in the role you were currently in. That basically means even if you hit your mark it does not mean your end goal to move up will happen. Over priced dining items in the cafeteria. There is small gossip within certain areas. You are told to become a yes man to upper level people.

    Advice to Management

Give people more chances. Do not wait for an employee to completely want to leave to help them. Be more reasonable with the actual positions. Change what the position does. Invest in electronic technology instead of going paper it will save time

I worked at Darden (More than a year)

    Pros

    Decent money made in tips

    Cons

-Like any serving got, 2.13 an hour
    -3 tables per server
-paid 2.13 an hour to serve, but we were supposed to work for free for example: Make own bread and salad, tray up desserts, clean (mind you, there are people who get paid a wage to do these things but management didn't want them there all day so they expeceted us to do all the work for free).

I worked at Darden part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Easy to pick up shifts when needed.

    Cons

Having lots of refillable items on the menu keeps you running constantly even when you only have a few tables.
Low cost of refillable items (soup and salad mainly) means more work for a lower tip.
Tip outs go to bussers when the servers are often cleaning their own tables, rolling silverware, fetching ice, etc.
No security cameras and a theft problem. Management takes no responsibility for preventing theft.

I worked at Darden part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Can easily work 6+ hours in a shift and they are not afraid to pay you overtime. The restaurant is like a well-greased engine that is capable of handling high-volume amount of guests/customers. Long hours should be expected on the shift but all positions that receive tips are well compensated by them. Training is very good and co-workers are willing to assist. Looks good on resumes because of the reputation Yardhouse has with guest/customers.

    Cons

Most shifts require a lot of hours working and there is really not set clock out time. Promotions sometimes occur to workers who don't deserve it just to get them out of that position which can be frustrating; especially, for those who do work hard and deserve the promotion more. Very corporate oriented where many rules (if broken) may lead to termination.

    Advice to Management

All the managers work too much. Must be hard doing so many hours. Don't take it out on your employees. Some managers also show blatant favoritism.
