      Pros

If you're good, there's potential to make a lot of money in a quick period of time. You'll get the best sections and the best shifts. Menu price points are high for some restaurants and some areas, so tips can be pretty good. It's extremely hard to get fired. I don't know if I consider that a pro, but I guess some people would concerning job stability.

      Cons

Only a few members of the team carry the weight of the entire restaurant Management will not terminate anyone Lack of communication between management, little consistency Absolutely NO vacation days/paid time off, sick days, decent benefits Hard to balance home life and work life when you're scheduled 6 days a week/double shifts You don't find out your schedule for the following week until Friday at 5 pm Long hours, lots of sidework, no breaks Mandatory tip out based on sales and not tips to the service assistants and bartender Managers tend to play favorites and have no problem watching others do the majority of the work If you're an opener, you're working for free It's hard to move up in the company unless you want to be a manager.

      Good company to work for

Sep 23, 2014 - Service Manager in Aventura, FL

      Business Outlook

      Pros

Management team is awesome. The benefits are very good, especially the insurance option, which is great. Starting pay for management and bonus potential is great. Flexible working hours, so if you're a student, a parent or have another job management will work within your availability. Have a lot of money to back up their vision.

      Cons

Can be difficult working with guests, as with all other food service jobs. Managers can work long hours with no praise and little to no appreciation. All stores are corporate so you answer to people you may not even know, which means little room for mistakes---I think they forget, or never knew in the first place, what it's like to actually work at the store level.

Great experience as a server. Side work was a little excessive.

      Pros

Good money, flexible hours, benefits available the first day you're hired, and great management.

      Cons

Long hours because of side work. I work at Seasons 52 and the side work was pretty extensive. The main reason there is so much side work is because they do not have bussers at our restaurant. That means that you have to polish wine glasses and/or silverware, do your main side work, and clean your tables. It usually takes you about an hour or two to leave once you've been cut.

Helpful to understand good restaurant management

      Pros

Great facilitation to do your best. Flexible work schedule. Meet and integrate information with a diverse community that enhances your scope and frame of reference for low income jobs.

      Cons

High paced and complicated work environment. Can be very stressful and include long hours. Stringent rules and job security is low. Industry has very high turnover rates and you cannot always depend on the team you are a part of to perform at peak or even to show up to perform 100% of the time.
