I worked at Data Systems Analysts full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great middle management, stable company, interesting work for the intelligence and DoD communities, fairly good benefits including lots of time off.

    Cons

Too much reliance on federal opportunities, haven't been able to sustain commercial ventures with mortgage banking, energy, or pharma. VP level employees with no clue who take credit for others work. No work opportunities in the HQ region

    Advice to Management

Stick to your guns, to what made DSA a great company to work for in good times and bad. Reward every employee equally based on actual contribution, not just the VP and above levels. And fire any manager

I have been working at Data Systems Analysts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

DSA has great benefits: Good retirement plan options, tuition reimbursement, decent health plan benefits. They also do a great job of recognizing when good customer service is provided, and give monetary incentives to get employees to do a good job.

    Cons

Expect to be over worked and under paid. Often times, the benefits balance out the under payment part of the position, but after a while it is not worth it. Customers often do not know what they want, and good luck if you're embedded.

    Advice to Management

Take care of your employees that are embedded. They are often isolated and when problems arise, there is little help.

I worked at Data Systems Analysts full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great recognition programs, freedom to do your job without interference from above, but will support you when needed. They treat their employees with respect and know that the customers will notice.

    Cons

Employees embedded with the customer can sometimes get lost in the shuffle, but they are working on making sure everyone is engaged.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you're doing. We appreciate the fact that you recognize our performance!

I worked at Data Systems Analysts full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Leadership gives you a clear direction and goal, and stays out of your way so you can achieve it! Bonuses for exceptional performers, and the ability to contact a responsible manager if you need higher level assistance.

    Cons

Limited opportunities in some areas to stay with the company if a contract is lost. Fortunately they don't lose many contracts!

    Advice to Management

Keep recognizing your employees and they will keep performing for you. This was an outstanding place to work.

I have been working at Data Systems Analysts full-time (More than 3 years)

    Fair compensation
    Good benefits, including ESOP
Employees are easy to get along with
    Direct access to upper management
Management supportive of career path - even if it means moving around within the company
Low turnover rate - many employees have been with company for years
Loyal - will try to find work for you within the company or on a different contract if your contract ends

    Cons

A more traditional IT/consulting company - not very innovative with ways to create a fun work environment
Employees often keep to themselves within their office
Few social activities (happy hours, company events, socializing with co-workers outside of the office)

    Advice to Management

DSA is a great company to work for with a solid reputation. To be more attractive to new employees you should provide a more fun and open work environment with more interaction between employees.
