I have been working at Datto full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

People: Datto is full of kind people that operate as a team and are always willing to lend a hand.

Technology: You get to work with arguably the best backup and recovery solution in the world. There are tons of opportunities to learn new things.

Culture: Datto has a great company culture that is defined by transparency, a bias towards action, and doing the right thing even if that isn't the easy or profitable thing.

Perks: Free Friday Lunch, Cool offices, Company events, SSB4 matches at lunch time, Free snacks and drinks, great benefits.

    Cons

Tech Debt: Datto likes to make progress quickly and some of that progress has been made at a cost. Sometimes you need to jump through some hoops to use internal tools and services. Sometimes things aren't designed as efficiently as they could be. As the company continues to grow things are getting better.

Recruiting: The recruiting process is not as efficient as it could be and has caused some really great candidates to slip through our fingers.

Staffing: Datto is growing at an alarming rate and certain departments haven't scaled properly to handle their constantly increasing workloads.

    Advice to Management

Pay more attention to departments that are understaffed or overworked and get them the personnel/resources they need.

    I worked at Datto full-time

    Pros

Great CEO, still a geek at heart.
Great company culture: progressive, playful, transparent.

    Cons

There are new managers who bring their past company culture. I was fired today for "under-performance" by one of these folks. I've been with the company ~10 weeks, about 3-4 of which were training. I was told that it's okay to learn and take my time and I sent in my 3-month goals a week ago. Then wham! No warnings, just get your stuff and get out right now.
Get the scoop on your boss before signing any long-term leases.

    Advice to Management

    * Give employees early feedback.
    * Synchronize with what the CEO/CTO says. If he says it's okay to learn your first 90 days and you fire someone for poor performance after 70, there is a problem.
    * Learn and execute on the Datto company culture instead of enforcing your stack-ranking or other past culture.

I have been working at Datto full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The people at Datto are some of the most laid back, fun, and professional colleges I have ever met. Everyone is always smiling and welcomes you the moment you walk through the door. The office spaces are newly renovated and inspire creativity and innovation. We have plenty of amazing perks and awesome employee events. Would recommend

    Cons

Because the company is fairly new there are alot of things that need fixing, you will always be busy and or stay late. It can become unmanageable at times, but luckliy you are surrounded by amazing employees who are always offering their help or guidance. It is a team effort at Datto no matter what department you are in.

    Advice to Management

Listen to your employees, no matter where on the totem pole they may be. Your employees are your best asset and can see workflows from an entirely different perspective than you can. They can provide a deeper insight into daily operations and can offer suggestions on how to expedite as well as enhance day to day operations.

I have been working at Datto full-time

    Pros

Great benefits - gym reimbursement, a ridiculous selection of free snacks and drinks, free lunch fridays.
Good people, great culture, and growing quickly.
Overall caring for employees and customers.

    Cons

This company is no longer a fresh start-up, but still in its adolescence. If you need a lot of structure and uncomfortable with change, it's not the right environment for you. If you can live with ambiguity and a little chaos, knowing that you are part of the process to evolve, this may be a great fit.

    Advice to Management

Wish that upper management would push down decision rights more. At times it feels too top down, which slows decision making process. Won't be scalable in the long run.
