Keep up the good work - I don’t have much to complain about.

I have been working at Datto full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Datto has been one of the best places I've ever worked. Between the talent level, benefits and culture it would be hard to find a place that compares.

    Cons

Sometimes product releases are rushed and not given the proper amount of time to build something that's rock solid.

I have been working at Datto full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Free snacks, drinks, random activities

    Cons

You won't do well here if you can't multitask

    Advice to Management

Support management is great, can't speak to other parts within the company

I worked at Datto full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    -Free lunch Friday's
-State of the art office space
    -Top of the line equipment
    -Team activities quarterly
-Medical benefits are phenomenal (if single, family is pretty standard). The medical premium is paid in full bi-weekly, by Datto if single.

    Cons

-Claim 'unlimited PTO' which is a joke. Some former colleagues were able to process upwards 160 hrs PTO in a year, where as others could not get approval past 80 hrs. Don't believe 'unlimited PTO'

-Difficult to move up internally, favoritism plays a huge role here.

-Ever since the acquisition by Vista, there has been a purge of employees. Employees were terminated (Laid off) on the spot, and given no reason. This was after months of the CEO actively stating layoffs would not occur.

-HR is an utter mess. This was on full display during the interview / hiring process, and again upon termination.

-Pay is underwhelming considering the industry. Better off seeking opportunities at MSP's Partnered with Datto......

    Advice to Management

Stop lying to your employees. Also, include local management in on what is going on at the top of Datto. The fact that local management in Rochester was unaware of pending layoffs in January of 2018 is alarming.

There is clearly a lack of organization at the top, and the company is not what it once was. The merger with Autotask and acquisition by Vista equity partners has clearly led Datto in a different "direction".

    I worked at Datto full-time

    Pros

    - Free food/drinks
    - Relaxed atmosphere and lots of extra space per employee
    - Extra-curricular activities after hours
    - Moderately empowers employees to take chances

    Cons

    - Few opportunities for growth. CEO openly proclaims that he does not believe in bonuses or promotion opportunities. You should always be doing your life's work regardless.
    - Cult-like atmosphere; hours can vary but more often then not people spend 10-12 hours per day in the office
    - "Unlimited" vacation is a misnomer. It still needs to be approved and rarely does anything above a week get approved. Unlimited vacation is simply a way for them to not pay unused vacation days when you are laid off.
    - Vista Equity Partners - Since the acquisition, the company has gone into cash-hoarding mode, laying dozens of employees off at a time in order to pad the wallets of their acquirers as well as the exec team. Your utility to Datto lasts only if you can help with that mission.

    Advice to Management

Giving advice to management is irrelevant at this point given that the company is at the mercy of its puppet-master.

    I worked at Datto full-time

    Pros

free food and drink, great benefits

    Cons

This job was my life and I constantly went MORE than above and beyond for Datto every single day, loved by the entire office, tons and tons of positive shout-outs and recommendations from even C Level Executives and laid off with literally ZERO notice and ZERO explanation from the HR and Legal department. I would understand letting waste go but this is not the case. The CEO/Founder SWORE nothing would change after they sold and merged, "always standing up for the employees" promising "nothing would change because thats not who Datto is" boy was I wrong, but why pay someone X amount if you can fire them, keep that X and just make the rest of the team pick up the slack, I get it, its business...My director walked me to the HR area and on the walk there was buttering me up, asking me what I was working on that week, how things were going overall just to be walked into a room and let go minutes later, such a snake move. never EVER thought Datto would do this to me and 30+ other people. Really disappointing. I thought I found my forever career :( Good luck and much love to the remaining employees!

    Advice to Management

stick by your employees. dont preach togetherness, value and importance and then dont fight for them when the time comes just to save your own

    Pros

Really fun, relaxed culture. Nobody's watching when you clock in our out, the focus is on how productive you are.

    Cons

Managers choose favorites. They're the only ones with a shot at promotion.

    Advice to Management

Take employee concerns more seriously. Don't play favorites so much.

I have been working at Datto full-time

    Pros

Snacks, drinks, friday free lunch, games, lounges, benefits, health insurance, 401k, employee of month 5k award, runner up employees of month 1k award

    Cons

Sometimes I feel there is politics involved and I feel they are not good for any team/company at all. fair play is very important. I may be wrong though.

    Advice to Management

Don't let go people who have given the company a great deal of benefit from lower level to high, rather from high level to lower level.

    Pros

Free lunch Friday and snacks galore.

    Cons

Management team is a clique. Merger with Vista Equity is all about making Vista and executive team rich, but you can already tell it will be on the backs of their unappreciated teams. Everyone is expendable now after they swore no one was getting let go and then they were.

    Advice to Management

Stop lying to us in every meeting.
