    Pros

Engineering team is top notch. Products are pretty cool, pace is high, and most importantly you can feel proud of what you are building and who you are working for "do your life's work". Can-do attitude across the development scrum teams. Very well organized in terms of agile, the best organized I've been involved with in 13+ years. Resources are there to help you succeed, up to and including a very professional product marketing team. This is a very product-centric organization. Culture is outstanding...HR policies promote a healthy work/life balance. Pay is +, benefits are ++. No brainer if you're considering a position with Datto.

    Cons

Tough to advance, especially in remote offices. There is opportunity, but seemingly the appetite is to hire externally. Some processes outside engineering are immature so navigating organizational issues can be challenging. And GSuite...it takes getting used to.

    Advice to Management

Just have a career path for folks, or communicate if there isn't a plan for an individual. People wanna stay...they want to grow, b/c at the end of the day...Datto rocks!

I worked at Datto full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits - free lunch catered once a week, unlimited coffee, chips, and soft drinks in kitchen

People - younger employee population, positive energetic attitude

Events - Annual summer and holiday parties are exclusive and enjoyable

    Cons

Compensation - salaries are low for market excluding software developers, poor option offering, bonuses are 100% discretionary and based on up to 5% of salary (never seen 5% and will typically pay 2-4% IF manager allows)

Career progression - non-existent, always hiring externally

Redundancy - excessive meetings, 'too many cooks in the kitchen', poor work/life balance

    Advice to Management

Listen to employee's 'anonymous questions' and consider internal promotions over external hirings

I have been working at Datto full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

-Lots of good people in the company that were promoted within
-Great benefits especially for someone young
    -Flexible vacation policy
    -Capable to switch roles

    Cons

-Management is lacking. Many people in management became managers due to time at the company and not actual experience
    - Stingy on business products, but will waste money on unnecessary things like car rentals to make funny short videos
    -No collaboration between departments
    - A lot of entitlement due to lack of training

    Advice to Management

Find a balance between a fun work environment and getting the right tools. Snacks are great, but it is worth sacrificing some to get products that will make people be able to perform their jobs better. Take some time in invest in real training for managers or look for outside help. Promoting from within isn't always the best solution.

I honestly can’t think of anything to really complain about... I’ve never worked anywhere like Datto before

I worked at Datto full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Definitely feels like a silicon valley tech company. The technology in the building is great.

    Cons

-The executive leadership team is filled with mostly inexperienced folks who are incapable of making a decision. COO/CFO is very experienced, but he's too far in the details to get anything done. The result is a very frustrated employee base.
-The company doesn't treat people well. The benefits are just a smoke-screen. They should recognize that people are their greatest asset before they all leave.
-CEO won't even say hi to people in the hall. He keeps his head down and ignores interaction wherever possible.

    Advice to Management

Empower your leaders to make decisions rather than keeping all the power / authority at the very top. Also, proactively retain people rather than reacting as they're accepting other offers.

I have been working at Datto full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Datto has been one of the best places I've ever worked. Between the talent level, benefits and culture it would be hard to find a place that compares.

    Cons

Sometimes product releases are rushed and not given the proper amount of time to build something that's rock solid.
