    I worked at David Jones (Less than a year)

    Pros

    David Jones is one of Australia's largest retailer. It is very exciting to be apart of journey that is constantly growing and developing. The team, (head off and in-store) encourages you to grow and will help you get there. I wish I could have been a part of the team longer!

    Cons

    As fast as David Jones is growing, there are bound to be a few bumps.

    You work with amazing people
    Great staff discount which applies to sales items too
    Pretty decent pay

    Cons

    Very tiring running around helping customers
    Casual workers sometimes get called up and pressured to come into work

    Advice to Management

    Be more flexible with rosters
    Put less emphasis on card sales and sales
    More training sessions

    Pros

    Long term prospects and good personal development programs to advance your career. They offer an in house traineeship which is comprehensive and helps develops your skills in buying and planning.

    Cons

    The culture of the company has gone through several changes over the past few years and upper management has been plagued with frequent changes to board members which has led to inconsistent leadership and goal setting.

    Advice to Management

    Stay on track to deliver what customers are seeking and don't rely too much on what the competition is doing. The head office team is very competent and should be rewarded more often

    Great benefits, great location. Employees are nice.

    Cons

    No accountability for product delivery & Ownership. Executive leadership doesn't support change, the individual trying to make a change gets push back.

    Frequent firing. Lack of communication from management.

    Advice to Management

    Need change in leadership. Need to hold employees accountable to progress and deliver products on time to market.

    More staff highly needed on the floor to work together. Customers & staff find this utterly frustrating.
