I worked at David Jones part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    - Employee discounts
    - Provide lots of training to make sure company values, product knowledge, proper equipment use is learnt before going into work on the floor.
    - Flexible hours (late night shopping hours)
    - Sunday rates
    - Possibility to be promoted to supervisory roles (possibly further up with more experience)

    Cons

    - Managers tend to stay in offices than department floors, hence, compromising communication between staff and managers/head office.
    - Unpredictable amount of hours for casual staff. (can range from 0 hours to 28 hours in a week)
    - Usually working on hard floors with constant bright lighting.

    Advice to Management

Avoid micromanagement, usually staff on floor with experience already know how to communicate with customers and have personal styles of interaction.
