    Pros

Growing company. Just bought by Agropur. All hope is for this to be a chance to improve. To move forward to the 21st century.

    Cons

Horrible PTO. Favoritism is very evident.

    Advice to Management

Move out of the 1950's and make the improvements that will draw people to the company so they will want to stay for years. Prevent it from being a stepping stone job.

I have been working at Davisco (More than a year)

    Pros

Regional competitive pay and benefits including: medical, dental & vision insurance, 401K, LTD, STD, vacation, holidays & double-time Sundays available. Shift employees only work 7 out of 14 days.

    Cons

As with any employer there are still people involved. Some are rock stars to work with and for and some are not. You can not base an opinion of an employer based on one or two individuals. As long as you are the best employee and take pride in your own work.

    Advice to Management

Annual reviews. Annual wage comparisons based off of competition in our area.

I have been working at Davisco full-time

    Pros

Fast growing company for many years. Excellent job stability. This has been a flat organization where decisions can be made quickly without much red tape. Hopefully this stays in place with the recent acquisition by Agropur.

    Cons

Hiring has not kept pace with company growth. Company has been pretty lean on personnel recently. Vacation program could be better.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the growth, don't get too bureaucratic within the larger organization.

    Pros

You get to work with good hard working people that will do what it takes to do the job right. Even though they know that they will not get a raise

    Cons

You get lied to and you can't move up in the company. The would rather hire unqualified people for supervisor and management jobs

I worked at Davisco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Medical insurance was great. They offered HRA funds that helped offset the deductibles. 401k match and profit sharing was highest percentage I had seen in my career.

    Cons

Politics were a huge part of every day, no vacation, poor wages for hourly employees, business office staff did not get raises like the plant employees did. Too many people involved in decisions and they did not communicate with each other. Felt like you were expected to be there 8-5 every single day. It was even frowned upon to take a couple of hours off to go the dr. or dentist which you sometimes had to do when you worked 8-5 every day. Did not promote work life balance at all.

    Advice to Management

Management training. Employee surveys to find out what the hourly employees think of their supervisor. I had a lot of complaints about my supervisor which is why I left but did not feel that it would be addressed even if I did say anything. Look at wages of hourly staff, not just salaried employees. Look at your vacation policy. Staff want to feel valued and when they don't feel like they are allowed a day off for any reason it does not make you feel valued.
