I worked at Daymark Recovery Services full-time

    Pros

There are no good reasons to apply and even fewer to stay.

    Cons

Staff shows up when they want to and do whatever they want. They are not disciplined for policy violations. Unlicensed and untrained administrative staff try to immerse themselves in nursing. Horrible culture.

    Advice to Management

Center directors should have a working knowledge of clinical areas, especially nursing. Communication via email should be limited since the staff who send the most emails have no idea how to spell.

I have been working at Daymark Recovery Services full-time

    Pros

Clinicians who have provisional licenses have the opportunity to obtain "free" clinical supervision. Daymark provides free classes to its employees.

    Cons

The salary is definitely a con. Fully licensed clinicians only make $38,000 a year. Also, there is no designated time for clinicians to take lunch. Clinicians are often forced to skip lunch or to eat at their desks. Finally, the training is minimal and clinicians are often thrown to the wolves before they are properly trained.

    Advice to Management

Get out of your offices and train your clinicians!!!!!! Don't just email them about errors, show them how to correct the errors (IF YOU KNOW WHAT YOU ARE DOING). Pretend to be professionals by not engaging in gossip and causing workplace conflict.

    Neutral Outlook

I worked at Daymark Recovery Services full-time for more than 5 years

    Pros

Daymark provides you with a great start with a good foundation for clinical mental health or substance abuse work. It gives you a wealth of support and knowledge in the beginning stages of your career. Great job to begin directly from grad school.

    Cons

Pay is not too good, but it is community mental health. Poor supervision at times and poor management. Due to its contracts with the state, it has a substantial amount of documentation efforts.

    Advice to Management

    NONE

I have been working at Daymark Recovery Services

    Pros

Easy to get a job, benefits are great (part-time employees get full benefits), great place for entry-level work, most coworkers are friendly and very helpful, and it is a well known organization in NC.

    Cons

Not much initial training, lack of communication between management and employees, inconsistency due to a lack of standardization of procedures, pay is well below the average for this industry, there aren't many opportunities for employee development, long-standing employees are visibly disgruntled due to burn out, and management is not very reliable at times.

    Advice to Management

Provide more training to employees, standardize procedures in order to avoid confusion among employees, provide pay that is competitive with the average pay for this industry, and communicate more with employees so that we know exactly what is expected of us. Invest in your employees by providing us with better pay, more training opportunities, opportunities for advancement/promotion, etc. Employees are the most valuable resource of a company, and Daymark sometimes forgets that.
