I have been working at Dayton Freight full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The dock workers at Dayton are trained for weeks to ensure that they have confidence and control when operating a forklift, so claims and damages are extremely rare. When I signed on with Dayton over a year ago, they took their time to make doubly sure that I wasn't going to fear the forklift, but respect the machine. And that, in it's core, is how we make sure our services are unparalleled in the region. The "Dayton Difference."

    Cons

Honestly, the only con I can think of (and this is nitpicking to the highest degree) is that we're growing so fast that the dock can get hectic.

    Advice to Management

We're doing a stellar job right now. I don't know what the highbrass is doing to cause it, but keep it up.

    Pros

Fantastic job if you don't mind sitting at a computer and typing all day. Low stress, quiet environment, come in get your work done and leave. Other employees are friendly. Flexible with hours if you're a student.

    Cons

Evening hours, sometimes long nights sometimes short.

I worked at Dayton Freight part-time

    Pros

Perfect job for a college student. Mostly flexible with hours. Pay is entry at around 18/hour. Pretty laid back culture. Started to crack down a little right before I left.

    Cons

Training is not organized. Expected to pick up your job quickly with minimal support.

    Advice to Management

Advance your training program for new hires. Should just send him off with another employee. Implement SOP's and milestones.

I have been working at Dayton Freight part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Equipment to perform the job and assigned tasks properly is readily available. Rarely any hiccups in the flow on the dock.

    Cons

weather of course (can't be helped), and despite safety regulations drivers on the dock operate the lifts pretty recklessly.

    Advice to Management

None, they're doing fine in my book

    Pros

Good pay for part time work. All your doing is loading and unloading freight on a forklift so not difficult.

    Cons

No benefits for part time. Early morning hours. No chance to move up or even get full time. They play favorites alot so people that the supervisors like get more hours and better treatment.

    Advice to Management

Treat all your employees equally. Everyone works just as hard as your favorites if not better. Try to get part timers more hours.

I have been working at Dayton Freight full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

The culture. From the top down you are treated with respect and are reminded how important you are to the company. They really show you in many ways how much they appreciate the employees. Equipment, facilities, and management are top notch. Here, you get out of it what you put into it.

    Cons

None worth mentioning. There are so many great things about this company that the few negatives are just knit picking.

    Advice to Management

Need to be tougher on employees that are constant liabilities. I guess that just shows you how much they care and believe in their employees.

I have been working at Dayton Freight part-time

    Pros

Great place to work at, great team environment, fast paced, a lot of communication and time management. Very friendly co-workers and customers.

    Cons

While it is great to work here at Dayton Freight in the warmer times of the month it can get very cold during the winter and you need to bundle up as the temperatures can be brutal!

    Advice to Management

Working outside can be tough I don't understand why Dayton Freight has yet to install guards on dock in order to block out the freezing winds in the winter.
