I have been working at Dayton Freight full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Dayton Freight has an incredible culture and an outstanding support system. This was my first job out of college and I couldn't ask for a better experience in the work force. Great benefits and great people.

    Cons

Not much opportunity to advance in the company. Pay was less than market value but they attract college graduates for a reason, they are willing to train you and get your feet wet. Some upper management operate by their own rules and have little regard for those working below them. Growing pains have caused some unfavorable conditions in multiple departments. Some upper management are willing to put everything on those under them and are unwilling to adjust their lifestyle.

    Advice to Management

Respect those below you and be flexible with your practices. Keep the company culture strong!

I have been working at Dayton Freight full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay for the work, good benefit package. Decent hours. Don't do anything to irritate management and you'll be just fine.

    Cons

Stressful at times, especially when we get busy. Some of the equipment has seen better days, starting off is a little rough since it is seniority based. But if you can fight through it, it's worth it.

I have been working at Dayton Freight full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

New equipment, experienced dock and p&d drivers that work extremely hard, good reputation with customers, quarterly bonuses for management. Every driver has a pallet jack.

    Cons

Make it easier to get rid of non productive employees. Take care of employees that go above and beyond. Lack of straps in some service center.

    Advice to Management

Invest heavily in upgrading IT, give away more marketing/promotional items to customers (hats, shirts, calendars, etc.) as we don't compete with other customers in that area.
