I have been working at De Anza College part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

De Anza College is a great place to work in with amazing colleagues, facilities, and managing systems. De Anza is also a suitable place for all the students to maximise the tools that they need to excel in college.

    Cons

De Anza does not have facilities as fancy as universities' since it is a community college. However, De Anza provides more than sufficient tools to complement students with.

    Advice to Management

Keep on giving the best effort in trying to help student thrive and excel in their studies. I hope that a lot of students gain a lot from De Anza's system.

I worked at De Anza College (More than a year)

    Pros

Great chance for college students. You will learn a lot by volunteering for professors in De Anza.
There is not so much work to do.
A great chance to meet other students

    Cons

The pay is low compared with other job.
There is cap in your work time, and you definitely can not work over time

    Positive Outlook

I have been working at De Anza College part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

School is flexible regarding how many classes you need to teach per quarter. In my department, a PT teacher needs to teach only one quarter per academic year to maintain preferred employment status.
Also, the PT Faculty Office facilities are very nice. Very quiet in the basement of a building, individual cubes, kitchen, printer, secure, and with PCs to use.

    Cons

Normal complaints of low salary and poor benefits for PT staff. But, DA is one of the highest paid community colleges in CA, so things could be worse. It's good for someone who loves the job and wants flexibility over salary.

    Advice to Management

Budget funds for professional development for PT staff. This keeps us motivated and working toward continual improvement.
Incorporate student and peer evaluations more frequently in the review cycle. Use these evaluations to prioritize which faculty gets which assignments. In other words, prioritize merit over seniority.

I worked at De Anza College part-time

    Pros

Raise your teaching skills, you can learn more math there. Sometimes it's not much work, but some students are not very smart, you have repeat a lot.

    Cons

Whether you can enjoy working there depends on who is your supervisor. My first supervisor was good, but the next one canceled all my sections without talking to me.

    Advice to Management

Need to provide more spots for tutors, need to tell all students that they can come to ask Questions! Some tutors are bad. Just say, you can't get any help from students who got C before.
