I worked at De Beers Group full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

9-5 hours, free lunch, good office location

    Cons

Very hierarchical structure, layers upon layers of management. Impossible to get anything done. Micromanaged to the extreme. Too many people doing the same/ similar tasks. Often work is done just for the sake of it. Very inefficient. Senior management hiding away on their own floor. Inaccessible.

    Negative Outlook

I worked at De Beers Group full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Unique segment of mining industry. Opportunity to meet and work with people from around the world.

    Cons

DeBeers has a long history of negative exploitive behavior, they live up to this to this day. Expect that you will work in a class system where you will be treated like second class, uneducated unskilled peasants. The management is arrogant and do not expect HR to be helpful or supportive. Your rights and self respect will be violated by this company, count on it.

    Advice to Management

Your corporate culture is toxic and arrogant. Treat people with respect and not lip service. For a company that sells promises and trust. You don't deliver.
