    Pros

The company offers benefits for employees

    Cons

Since I started there is a freeze on raises which sucks for people who put in the work. They continue to tell us to remain patient but how long ?

I worked at DeKalb Medical full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

The place is a hidden gem. There are so e wonderful, down to earth people that work there. They have been dedicated to their roles and have stayed for some time. There is great potential to grow as a hospital system.

    Cons

I found that there was little motivation to compete with neighboring hospitals. Because people ha e been there fir a while, i think they lost perspective on things and are resistant to change.

    Advice to Management

    Think outside of the box.

I worked at DeKalb Medical full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

-Older and Experienced RN Staff (not a ton of new Grads)
-In a growing/developing area and community

    Cons

-Not enough money is being brought to this organization!!

This leaves middle management with their hands tied to make progressive changes, and staff stuck to deal with frustrated patients and families.

    -Experienced staff afraid of change

People who have been here are tired and frustrated that their benefits have been mishandled. Their retirement plan is non-existent. Benefits suck beyond comprehension! You might as well have no health insurance.

-Management doesn't listen to the needs of the staff
You can voice you concerns til the sun goes down, no one cares, or knows how to make the changes because the entire system is messed up. Staff can't properly perform their jobs because they don't have the tools or the support they need.

    -Poor patient care

Yes, they get the job done, but at what expense? Just know, your license is on the line every time you clock in. There is little to no staff, no incentive pay, and no support if you're in a crunch. Period. No matter what they tell you in the interview.

    Advice to Management

Shut the doors. Start over. Or let someone buy the hospital out and revamp the entire workforce.....starting with middle management.

    Pros

It is easy to get experience; there is a large enough workload to be challenging, and the majority of coworkers are friendly

    Cons

Management tried hard, but laid off a lot of people. Some of the people that stayed were burned out and overworked. They don't care anymore. Communication is not clear. Favoritism.

I worked at DeKalb Medical full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Decent pay for nurses , great nursing manager , very diverse , they try to have employees live up to a high standard (ireach)

    Cons

There's always a nursing shortage, high patient acuity and high nurse to patient ratio, food is over priced , staff will stab you in the back! You get floated a lot , charting system is old and frustrating!
