I worked at DePaul University part-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I enjoyed being a Lab Assistant and everything that I learned from the people I met. The University was very understanding and accommodating to my student schedule. It was a great experience working within the University I attended.

    Cons

Other than normal job challenges, there are not any cons I have to list.

    Cons

Any university has politics, but seems to be less than most

I worked at DePaul University part-time

    Pros

Great way to get into the job market with little to no job experience prior. Plenty of room for growth and development with plenty of guidance. It's a great on-campus position if you live on or close to campus, you need a few dollars in your pocket, and you like to talk to people.

    Cons

No downsides really. It's an entry level college job, with no truly high expectations. If you are a reliable, somewhat friendly, person, it's a mostly easy place to work.

    Advice to Management

No advice for management. As I stated earlier, for the position most people were able to use it as a stepping stone, and management did well at maintaining that.

I worked at DePaul University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good culture. Nice staff and faculty.

    Cons

The pay isn't great compared to all of the responsibilities you'd take on and don't promote internally very much, which is why I had to leave.

    Advice to Management

Revisit pay structure and internal promotion

  8. "A university with a focus"

I worked at DePaul University full-time

    Pros

DePaul understands its mission: to serve the community with excellence, especially supporting students who may be first in their family to go to a university

    Cons

DePaul emphasizes teaching superiority, which may not be suitable for someone focused on research.

    Advice to Management

DePaul could stress even more strongly why its core values are so relevant in today's marketplace.

I have been working at DePaul University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Meaningful work, diverse student population, good salary, good benefits, supportive community of colleagues.

    Cons

The environment is not always the most professional. There is very little accountability in my division, and even if someone is grossly incompetent, there are few consequences and the person won't get fired. Not much opportunity to move up in your career.

    Advice to Management

Be more professional. Make expectations clear to your employees. Reward employees for good work, and enforce consequences for those who don't meet standards.
