I worked at DePaul University part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Flexible schedules and good experiences, sometimes free food.

    Cons

Some jobs pay minimum but probably are with more.

    Advice to Management

Increase working hours during school days to 30 hours instead of 25.

I worked at DePaul University full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Cannot think of one pro. Was very unhappy due to my issues in just getting around.

    Cons

DePaul does not follow the Americans with Disabilities act and does not accommodate students, faculty or staff. They pretend to use those rules, but require much more proof than is legally required. By making those requirements, disabled people give up and end up quitting.

    Advice to Management

Comply with the law, even if you believe it is "too liberal," or whatever. Does your supervisor make you do these things? Maybe the supervisor would like a copy of the ADA.

I worked at DePaul University full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Positive culture
    Good Chicago Loop location
    Family Tuition Benefit

    Cons

    Processes need updating
The pay isn't marketable but the free tuition compliments
Not much room for growth. A lot of long term employees.

    Advice to Management

    Good leadership!

I have been working at DePaul University full-time

    Pros

Management is decentralized, with committees making many decisions. There's little oversight and lots of freedom to pursue own research interests.

    Cons

Working around the egos of some professors is difficult. Also, some committees are inconsistent in their application of rules and policies (which are not clearly communicated to begin with)

I have been working at DePaul University full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Mission, co-workers, students, commitment to diversity

    Cons

Compensation (faculty), faculty support (e.g. grants, research oops), morale during times of low enrollment, no endowment means VERY enrollment driven—when enrollments up, times are good, when down, bad/tense

    Advice to Management

Provide better grant acquisition support to faculty: Current system very sub-par

I have been working at DePaul University full-time

    Pros

DePaul is a great university to work for if you take advantage of the tuition benefits available for full-time staff. Great benefits can make up for the lower salary. Great work-life balance. When you leave at the end of the done, you leave work at work.

    Cons

DePaul recently had major staff layoffs that negatively impacted the remaining staff. At times, it can feel as though the high level administration is more focused on revenue and less on valuing the staff.
