I worked at DePuy Orthopaedics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Great facility with flexibility and amenities. You are literally provided with everything you need to succeed and the company takes care of you. Its a team work environment, and if you stick to the right people you will succeed.

    Cons

Not all of the people look out for your best interest. While I was there cliques were formed and you had to constantly be watching your back. Sometimes management's favorites received information they were supposed to pass down but purposefully kept to themselves to cause problems for the rest of the team.

    Advice to Management

Manage employee relationships and interaction better. Do not allow exclusion because that exclusion of information leads to others taking blame for the entire teams failures.

I worked at DePuy Orthopaedics full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Good pay, clean environment, good job market

    Cons

Manufacturing employees do not get treated to their full potential. Management just concerned about numbers and talented, smart manufacturing employees have a difficult time learning and advancing in the company. Do not take disabilities into consideration. Management has a "this is not high school" when it comes to bullying therefore has caused some harm to employees both physical and emotional. Favoritism. Credo not used fairly across the board with all employees. Policies sometimes get ignored especially towards advancing and hiring. Leads are known to lie or deny about employees leaving false information to supervisors about great employees. Supervisors and management buy into jealousy

    Advice to Management

Treat people with respect. Don't let other employees hurt others. You say "see something, say something" but it seems that it's just a facade. Stop letting leads bully others. I was bullied many years ago and the same person did it in 2015 and still got away with it. Ended my 20 year career with DePuy. You should understand that actions as well as no actions taken hurt people and Their families. Hurt mine for the worst as well as my family. Treat employees as equal as possible. Have more concern for people with disabilities.

I have been working at DePuy Orthopaedics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Competitive salary/bonuses
Great Perks (on-site fitness center, cafeteria with decent food, discounts on J&J products, discounts on wireless plans, new cars, etc)
Management wants employees to have a good work/life balance

    Cons

It's a giant company in a highly regulated industry. There is plenty of red tape.

    Advice to Management

I deserve a massive raise because I'm awesome.

    Pros

great learning experience you can use to move on into other medical sales positions and you will make a lot of very good contacts

    Cons

terrible local management and distributor who either have no sales experience in the business or are very far removed from being a sales rep

I have been working at DePuy Orthopaedics full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Good industry and demand is there for products. It is a very sought after field to be in and competition is high for these jobs. Depending on the geographical area you reside you might be utilized in every surgery and this can add to job satisfaction.

    Cons

Declining prices for implants means more work (by a lot) for the same or less pay. Call 24/7.

    Advice to Management

    Higher commissions!

    Pros

Great work/life balance and highly competitive salary and benefits.

    Cons

Some incompetent members of senior management which leads to additional work.

    Advice to Management

Take a close look at management to determine value to the organization, attempt to look past the amount of years the employee has worked there when determining value. Otherwise continue strong trend of business.

I worked at DePuy Orthopaedics full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

The compensation was competitive especially for an entry level position. The orthopedic implant product line was excellent and on the cutting edge.

    Cons

From day one there was literally no training. Even after asking questions, I was directed to pamphlets to gather information on products. There was no guidance from management and most of the time managers were obsessed with their responsibilities and quotas and were unwilling to help lower level salesmen.

    Advice to Management

It would have been very helpful to have some sort of training program. It would have been even more helpful to be able to talk with an experienced salesmen about the product line and selling techniques.

    Pros

Excellent work/life balance, working on products that have a meaningful impact on the quality of peoples lives. Compensation is fantastic, and working for a company the actually believes in its guiding document (credo) has its benefits. The people at DePuy are really what makes the organization great - teamwork is excellent and people are generally happy and want to do a good job. The vast majority of management are seasoned leaders. You have the ability to take on as much as you want or as little as you want, but you will be compensated based on your performance so it behooves you to work hard.

    Cons

Unfortunately as seasoned leadership leaves, they are generally replaced with young inexperienced MBA's if at all. These are great people, but they have to lean heavily on individual contributors to make sound decisions. As key individual contributors move on decisions are made slower and with less prudence.

    Advice to Management

Fight hard to obtain the staffing that is required to be successful.

    Pros

High compensation. Once in the industry, you are in.

    Cons

HIGH intensity and stress, naturally due to the medical industry and impact on lives of patients.
