I have been working at DePuy Synthes full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Friendly work culture, great mentorship, good work/life balance. New leadership pushing for innovation.

    Cons

Burdensome processes that slow down innovation and speed to market. Some more senior employees are more concerned with getting by comfortably than improving the status quo. This is toxic and discouraging to newer employees who are trying to make a difference.

    Advice to Management

Continue to encourage fresh ideas by rewarding, empowering, and promoting employees who proactively think outside the box.

I worked at DePuy Synthes full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

    Fitness center on site
    Benefits are good

    Cons

“It’s not the same JnJ it used to be” - any employee who has been there longer than 10 years will say this. With new management, comes awfulness. The desire to get up in the morning completely goes away. Are you really good at your job? Well if so, prepare to be pigeonholed. You’ll never move again regardless of how many jobs you apply for. If you want to move up, you have to leave.

The Credo is supposed to be the backbone of the company. But when the Plan manager says she doesn’t care what the results of the credo survey are in a Staff meeting, you realize that the Credo is mostly a joke when it comes to honoring its employees.

Recognition? Forget about it. You won’t get it.

“Flex time doesn’t exist for Manufacturing”. Prepare to be overworked and underpaid. For 5 years I worked almost every night, every weekend, and every vacation. I was even getting calls while I was at my grandmother’s funeral. 5 years of hell, 50+ job applications within the company, and the same old story is “you’re not qualified” even though I can run circles around the people the finally hired.

The only way you’ll move in this company is if you’re one of the favorites who isn’t good at his job.

    Advice to Management

Get rid of your directors. They’re ruining the company. Metrics and Money shouldn’t be your main focus. Safety and Quality should come first. Then metrics. Don’t cut positions because you don’t know what the people are doing. Get out in the productionfloor. Meet the people who work for you. Care about them.

I have been working at DePuy Synthes full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

No pros anymore. The only pros we used to have are gone.

    Cons

Low wages, bad benefits, unprofessional and unqualified management. Unfair merit increases, promotions. Women are a minority. They are not compensated as well as the men, and have more responsibilities. Not one of our supervisors had any prior experience in their positions before Synthes. They have no clue as to what they are doing.

    Advice to Management

Stop kissing rump. You’re getting screwed too. Stop playing favorites and giving your buddies good raises and screwing the rest of us.
