I worked at DeVry Education Group full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Obtained deep knowledge about Oracle, Sungard, Cognos,Sharepoint, Blackboard, and the multitude of software cloud services that they use (but are separate/discrete systems which created nightmares). Young people may learn something here, but be cautious that you don't sell your soul, maintain your ethics.

    Cons

Ironically, they know nothing about IT or governance. The organizational design created excessive secrecy, poor communication, duplication of effort, poor processing, competition among groups. Auditing is completely lacking which is crazy because they own a great CPA-test-prep firm, Becker. Upper level HR leadership is either clueless or knowingly exploitative.

    Advice to Management

Well, at least you canned Hamburger, Riehs, and the corporate attorney..... Good start.

I worked at DeVry Education Group full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Benefits were good. Some people cared about your well being and success.

    Cons

I worked for DVG for 13 years and was very under paid, overworked and disrespected. I was informed I was not even making the min for my pay grade. They did nothing to bring me to where I needed to be. Management and hr was very unprofessional when discussing advancement opportunities. Had to work tons of OT to try and meet objectives at the sacrifice of spending time with my child.

    Advice to Management

Wake up and realize the amount of work is too much for the staff the budget allows. Evaluate your HR policies that are not followed. There is a lot of favoritism going on. Evaluate how your managers are treating people since it is unprofessional especially to discuss individual performance at a department meeting.

    Pros

This had to be one of the most stressful environments that I ever worked in.

    Advice to Management

    Pros

Most of the lower end employees really care about the job and the students

    Cons

Upper management sees nothing but $$$. They don't care about the lower end employees or the students. So long as the enrollment keeps up and their bonuses are not effected

I worked at DeVry Education Group full-time

    Pros

there are no pros to share, I had a few good co-workers. The veterans club was great which is gone now because the campus didn't support them at all.

    Cons

Just look online there are multiple law suits and investigations going on now. They have fired and laid off so many people and brought in a new management team who are incompetent and unsupportive. They laid off quality people and brought in nothing but "yes men." This is a company on a quick downward spiral. Students are very angry and rightfully so, turnover is high, and again leadership is an atrocity. I can not rate CEO Daniel Hamburger because he stepped down and is no longer with the company!

I worked at DeVry Education Group full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I can't think of one good reason to work for DeVry. If you are extremely desperate and are starving...I guess that would be a reason.

    Cons

Leadership was the worst I have ever experienced. I have many of examples of unfair and unethical treatment.

    Advice to Management

Finish cleaning house and get HR professionals that are professional and not villains that cares very little about people!

    Pros

You can get your degree for (mostly) free through one of their institutions.

    Cons

    There is rampant favoritism.

The work you produce doesn't matter, only how certain decision makers feel about you when making their decisions.

They really limit your career and only care about the advancement of certain people.

They don't care about the students and offer a sub par educational experience.

    Pros

Great pay, good benefits, and good people to work with.

    Cons

Poor management, negative outlook for the students and private education industry.

    Advice to Management

Start listening to employees, adding extra work onto an already unstable staff..adds for a business disaster.
