I have been working at Deaconess part-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Good hours and nice people so far.

    Cons

None that I can see, currently.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing, because you seem to be doing it right on my floor.

I have been working at Deaconess full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Stable company with fair benefits. Salaries are the highest in the tristate area. Going in the right direction with instrumentation.

    Cons

Laboratory management is severely lacking. They tend to recognize only those who "obey" and throw the rest to the wolves. The Gateway campus is severely understaffed and management cannot get a good grip on the problem because they rarely go to that campus. We are treated better at the main campus because our needs are seen. Communication is severely lacking.

    Advice to Management

Review the laboratory management and replace them with fresh minds that have a true passion for what they do.

    I worked at Deaconess part-time

    Pros

    The money is good

    Cons

Management lies, no communication, false promises

    Advice to Management

Appreciate the the employees who take pride in their work. Don't expect more from some and demand nothing to others. Most importantly do NOT as a boss speak with other coworkers about other employees personal information.

I have been working at Deaconess full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

wages, opportunity, people Deaconess has been in a period of volatility. People have been wondering and answers were slow, not because there was a secrecy, but because there weren't actually answers. Overall I feel that they management shared what they could when it became information and not just speculation.

    Cons

company has gone through much transition. Work environment is mostly union except rns. The sister hospital nurse are still union. This has pros and cons, but I do not get the impression that there is any one trying to keep answers from people unnecessarily. Despite some difficult transition staff and management are trying to reach the same goals.

    Advice to Management

Streamline processes, get everybody on same page. Hospital has undergone sale to CHS in 2007. Now going through additional acquisition, union has been broken for nurses
