I have been working at Deaconess full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great employer!! Great benefits!! Works with staff regarding scheduling. Physicians willing to teach at every available opportunity! Tuition reimbursement available.

    Cons

Some department managers have poor communication with staff. Must wear designated colored scrubs which isn’t horrible, but I love wearing my company t-shirts to work.

I have been working at Deaconess full-time

    Pros

People I work with are mostly sane. Pay is nice. Good PTO time, but never can take off. Have nearly 300 hours banked up and no foreseeable vacation due to coverage.

    Cons

They promise better work/life balance and then reneged on it by almost doubling your OT expected each week. Some co-workers will throw you under the bus. LOTs of drama. Management says they care, but really they don't. Do you work, but get belittled in front of other co-workers with no explanation of what was done wrong. Basically get interrogated on a process, but not instructed to do anything differently.

    Advice to Management

Treat your workers better and have less favoritism.

I have been working at Deaconess part-time

    Pros

After being there a year and being overworked and underpaid, the only Pro for me is that the benefits are good. Other than that there is no room to grow.

    Cons

    Low pay, no career advancement.

    Advice to Management

Pay your employee's more and rewards those who do well.

I have been working at Deaconess full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    Great benefits, perks, and people

    Cons

Low wages with little to no hope for raises

    Advice to Management

If someone is scheduled to work a holiday they deserve holiday pay.

I worked at Deaconess (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Excellent surgeons, staff, opportunity to take as much call as you wanted

    Cons

Cafeteria was horrible, some instruments were old and needed upgraded

    Advice to Management

Distribute call equally among each staff of each surgical specialty
