I worked at Dealertrack (Less than a year)

    Pros

Not many pros this would be a job necessary if you are desperate for immediate quick money

    Cons

Poor management and Supervisors are very picky and will call you out on natural mistakes , it seems they want you to work like a robot to meet their quotas but don't care about the condition of the employees
/Low Pay / No benefits / No Advancement Opportunities

    Advice to Management

Look to rehire caring and responsible supervisors
Listen to your team members who actually put the work out
Not a depressed supervisor with personal problems who wants to take it out on employees and treat them less than what they are

I worked at Dealertrack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits, Paid time off, great stock options and retirement. The company is backed by Cox Automotive, the group of Cox family products. Been around for years.

    Cons

Terrible management that blatantly gets away with everything. I don't know how a manager who's supposed to be in the office 4 times a week and shows up for 2 to 3 of the days still had their job, especially when they're lying all the time about where they are and what they're doing. Not good ethics at all.

    Advice to Management

Weed out the managers that continue break the rules and aren't held accountable. Managers cannot micromanage and set a double standard by not coming into work or showing up for their shift. It will catch up to them. Lots of unfulfilled promises and terrible management. Don't micromanage people when you can't even manage yourself.

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

If you are hired and socially active you will have a decent time. Can take off whenever needed as much as needed without fear of a point system.

    Cons

Not much diversity as far as race, religion, gender. Extremely biased and harsh work conditions. President is a hypocritical and habitual liar with little to no care for anyone working outside the office. Extremely discouraging work atmosphere.

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

    Friendly team
"Flexible" schedule (but more on this in the Cons section)

    Cons

    1.) Under a microscope.
2.) Proclivity to hire people on H1 visa, then over work and underpay them. This has the added "benefit" of driving down employ salaries
3.) People with families are told that as long as their work is done, your schedule can be flexible, but the reality is far different.
4.) Management does not take the time to understand the needs of their staff - then they will make unrealistic promises to clients, and are somehow surprised when deadlines aren't met.
    5.) Ever declining benefits.
6.) Team members are generally good, but the increasing toxicity in the working environment is beginning to cause friction.
7.) Promotion beyond a single level is rare. Promotions happen, but not in a meaningful way. If someone is hired in a particular position, you'd better be comfortable with it.

    Advice to Management

With the exception of benefits, the Cons have nothing to do with the Cox Automotive acquisition. My advice: Listen to your staffs needs. Raise salary expectations on new hires. Stop hiring college kids that cannot navigate enterprise level code. Give generous raises/bonuses to get morale back on track. Take a long hard look at current state of software development and understand that the missed deadlines and bad morale is a direct result of the people in charge and take effect to get the train back on track.

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

They talk the talk . Pleasant people. Nicer facilities. Trusts engineers enough to allow them work from home 1 day a week.

    Cons

They don't walk the walk. Very much a sweat shop run by a bunch of micromanaging Dilbert bosses. The tech stack changes all the time . The Agile process is way broken.

    Advice to Management

Just fire everyone on the programming staff over 50 since you want to get rid of them anyway. Live up to the phony stuff you are spouting about work life balance, career and the future of the technology.

    Pros

Traveling constantly and seeing different places across the country. You get to meet some interesting people.

    Cons

You will be promised things that company will not deliver on. There is no real structure and there are "too many Chiefs and not enough Indians!" Your health will be compromised because you will rarely have time to focus on yourself. Once in the field position, it is hard to get out. They do not want you to come off of the road.

    Advice to Management

Organize and plan for projects better; communicated with your employees and actually listen.

I worked at Dealertrack (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Was very innovative in auto finance space with solutions for auto dealers.

    Cons

Taken over by Cox Automotive at the end of 2015. Company decimated into a division of Cox run out of Atlanta. A mere remnant of its former self. Little to no autonomy.

    Advice to Management

Senor management made fortunes on takeover. Employees not so much.

    Pros

The only good thing is the coworkers. All you do is pull titles all day so make sure to make some friends so your day will go by faster.

    Cons

    Minium wage and tedious work.

    Advice to Management

Recognize people for their hard work.
