    Pros

    NONE!!! Do not work here.

    Cons

Management overall it sucks!!!!! come on everyone in high management comes from the dealership and we all know how dealers work.

    Advice to Management

Get help in promoting people and try harder at employee relationships. Do more for your employees right know I work for a great company. They are always trying to improve their ways with employees and they listen to your ideas. Why would you want to work for customers who are very unhappy with the product. I other words you get yelled at all day long and everything is you fault.

    Pros

Compensation and having a chance to work with some smart people

    Cons

Outsourcing and layoffs without a reason. Company is laying off smart and intelligent people who were with company for long time and hiring new comers for the same positions. No respect for tech people from business side and some tech managers. If you are willing sacrifice your self esteem you can survive in this company for sometime.

    Advice to Management

CTO is horrible doesn't have any knowledge on how to run a technology company.

I worked at Dealertrack full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Their solutions are okay for the automotive Finance and Insurance only. Co-workers are great but I will say more than 60% are not happy.

    Cons

This is a company run by "product development" people NOT sales, they need to change this if they want to survive. The sales force can NOT make sales decisions without the OK from one of the many "Vice-Presidents" in product development. Imagine a Senior Sales Director from General Electric not able to discount a product without the VP of product development's okay. WOW! something is wrong with this picture? That will never happen at GE but it is happening at DT.

    Advice to Management

Cut the extra FAT of all those Vice-President everywhere in the company - Free up the sales force senior guys to do what they do best, No company in our capitalistic society will ever make it BIG with your corporate culture, unless you change you will be another statistic.

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

The pay rate is a good starting salary. The ideas and concepts they have are good.

    Cons

Management sucks right from the start. There is no training at all for any of the positions. You go in and they have you watch someone for a day or two then throw you into the job without knowing any of what is going on. Bonus and raises that they try to "gear you up for" are horrible. They play favorites with their employees. The good employees take the fall for the bad ones. They overwork the ones that do know what they are doing. The supervisors won't even take calls if you ask for one they make their level ones or senior techs take them. Their senior support have been on the job less than three months and they are supposed to be the experts. Their Senior Management has no clue what is happening in other departments. It is just a HUGE mess. They have gone down hill the last two years, there is so much wrong about the way they treat their employees.

    Advice to Management

Pull your head out of the sand and see what you are doing to your employees.

I worked at Dealertrack full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I have no current pros, but I'd say the base product line (SalesMaker, eCon, Aftermarket, Compliance) were great products that showed a lot of hope and promise.

    Cons

HR is overbearing and takes favoritism to a new level. The company is more concerned about living from aquisition to aquisition. DT has an employee base that's intelligent, motivated and software geniuses, but instead of imporving the product offerings that are selling, they'd rather just aquire and destroy. Middle Mangement is a Joke. When you have 1 person controlling an entire country, how can you expect to give the company employee ROI? Management in general is a joke. The attitudes of upper management are a disgrace.

    Advice to Management

Learn your own products. Train your employees. Treat new hires with respect and dignity. Fire the HR team and rehire a REAL HR team who knows how to keep a business running smoothly, instead of being swayed by favoritism.

    I worked at Dealertrack full-time

    Pros

*Arkona was a great place to work and had a fantastic product and surging sales.
*My last day working for these morons.

    Cons

The DMS General Manager manged by "spreadsheet", had no industry experience, brought in a number of people from a "failed" competitor (Reynolds and Reynolds), killed all creativity and synergy, cut all salaries 5% promising to restore it later. It was never restored in my time there. They systematically dismantled the team that had created the success, product and track record and turned this creative and game changing DMS into an also ran. Huge brain drain after acquisition in 2007 at the DMS in SLC

    Advice to Management

Too late. You already ran off and fired all of the talent. I think you may succeed in running a great product into the ground. Sad end to what was once a "game Changer" in the Automotive DMS world.

I have been working at Dealertrack full-time

    Pros

    The salary is pretty decent.

    Cons

    Very cut throat organization
    Kiss butt and you'll advance
    Sneaky and mischievous senior management
    HR reps are clueless

    Advice to Management

Get self training and consider your employees first. Don't just worry about the money made from acquisitions. Stop being so sneaky and rude when communicating with others to find out what you need to know. Also, please make sure when advancing someone to another position, give them an advance b/c of their past experience. Can't advance and HR intern to an HR manager to work more than one state when he/she is not aware of the employment laws. That's very poor taste.

    Pros

Thought to have a future when hired

    Cons

Watch out for yourself being fired by irrational mangers who loose their head.

    Advice to Management

People get sick.It is not something you can fire people for. There are also civil courts and a law that works in this country. Avoid being dragged into one for firing people for being sick for a day.

I worked at Dealertrack full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Compensation is relatively good. Some good products.

    Cons

Their focus is on acquiring companies that provide solutions to better the dealer body. Though this is a great vision. It is poorly executed and poorly managed. Once the company is acquired the integration of the company within DT is not done properly. There is tons of miscommunication, redundancy of work, and no one really knows what others are doing. Especially if you are a field employee.

Training is non-existent and management is really out for themselves. Its a shame. I did not feel "at home" here and am glad to have left.

    Advice to Management

Focus on creating a good culture and perhaps turn-over rate won't be as high.
