I have been working at Dealertrack (Less than a year)

    Pros

After a brief conversation with a trusted friend who was a long time Dealertrack team member I was contacted by his boss to come in for an interview. That was the first of four informative and inspiring interview experiences that motivated me to do more research and ask more questions. The process took a a couple of months which gave me an appreciation of the seriousness of the opportunity. Now after 4 days to complete the on boarding process I'm convinced that the decision to join this quality growing organization was a great one and I'm more encouraged than ever. In most successful organizations there is talk about people being the companies greatest asset. There is no question that Cox Automotive not only talks the talk but walks the walk demonstrating that Dealertrack truly values their people which was reflected in the quality of the people we met, the process we experienced and the employee benefits we have received.

    Cons

At this point the only downside I've been able to identify is the ability for non automotive people to take in and understand all of the capabilities and facets of the Cox Automotive suite of companies. It is incredible what this organization is doing to streamline and simplify the car buying experience for Car dealers, Car buyers, Lenders and other vendors in the automobile industry.

    Advice to Management

    Keep up the good work!

    Pros

Most co-workers were professional and kind and the actual work/job was so-so. Pretty casual environment.

    Cons

Some, not all, of the middle management personnel are completely unprofessional, uneducated in their basic job functions and unethical in their actions. Upper management does nothing about it because seemingly they are too busy or just do not care.

    Advice to Management

Realize there is an EXTREME amount of favoritism going on as well as bullying by certain management and do something about it.

    Pros

Excellent support and training with opportunities to advance and a well above average pay scale for clients services.

    Cons

I truly cannot think of any. I'm genuinely happy here.

    Advice to Management

My suggestion was to improve the benefits and now with the Cox acquisition, that's done.

I worked at Dealertrack full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

I made a lot of friends...very diverse team of people. Pay is good. The other departments seemed pretty cool. That's about all I can think of so, on to the cons section.

    Cons

HORRIBLE supervisors. Out of the two team leads that I had, one was not only the worst I had ever had, but she was also one of the worst people I've ever had to experience in my entire life. The other team lead was constantly having mood swings that would confuse her team. The changes are constant, per most companies, BUT nobody was on the same page at the same time, and the higher-ups seem to think it's ok to just make things up as they go. As stated before...the pay is good...but obviously its that much because they need something to try to keep you. The team leads will use it against you as well. They send you home when there isn't work, and it's unpaid unless you want to use PTO. The hours are terrible for no reason because you are contacting people really late and they don't want to talk to you anyway. They will take something they know makes you weak, and they will use it to their advantage. In my experience, this place is very unprofessional, very vindictive, and the team has discussed quitting numerous times.

    Advice to Management

Throw it all away and start all over again. Get it together.
