I have been working at Dean College full-time for more than 20 years

    Pros

I came to Dean to provide health benefits for my family when my husband started his own business over 30 years ago. What kept me here is the friendly and supportive work environment, the mentorship from my supervisors, and the fact that I feel valued and a part of a dedicated team. The commitment of faculty and staff, who work tirelessly to support Dean's mission to provide our students with the opportunity for academic...

While Dean has its share of "drama" choosing to stay clear of it is easy to maneuver.

    Advice to Management

Little (and not so little) perks, like jeans and ice cream days and "Thank You Day" and extra days around the holidays off are truly appreciated. *While I am giving Work/Live Balance 5 stars for myself, I truly feel my staff (Student Life) go above and beyond!

I have been working at Dean College full-time for more than 20 years

      Pros

The faculty and staff at Dean College truly care about student success. They will go above and beyond to help a student [and their family] whenever they can. Involvement outside of ones area of responsibility is encouraged so that employees can get to know students and their peers. Campus traditions are extremely important to the College Community as a whole. The college works to recognize the hard work and dedication...

The work/life balance can be a challenge, but that is not uncommon in higher education.

I worked at Dean College full-time

      Pros

Some employees are great, but upper management is doing such a poor job that the good ones leave quickly. Its only a place to get experience before moving on.

      Cons

I taught at Dean and was told I was not allowed to fail more than 1 students in any class, so I was required to curve the grades and let students who did little to no work pass. I left soon after do to the lack of academic honesty. The school is not doing well financially and they do whatever to keep students and their money. Also, the work/life balance is terrible. You will be asked (told) to work late nights and...

      Advice to Management

Stop putting up fake positive posts on here and instead actually work on making the school a better place to work. Also, its time to update yourselves - so many in management have the mindset of the 80's and 90's ways of doing business.

I worked at Dean College full-time for more than 4 years

      Pros

Incredibly passionate community, students success was always priority number one.

      Cons

Depending on your territory be prepared to travel, a lot, but you'll be supported by the staff. The travel is a nice way to beef up some credit card points too.

      Advice to Management

Keep the culture strong, check in with those road warriors too!

I have been working at Dean College full-time

      Pros

Great place to work. Beautiful campus and offices, co-workers are friendly, welcoming and willing to help, administration is friendly, engaging, fair and supportive.

      Cons

Small school, small staff, lots to do, but those are not really cons. The high-deductible health plan is tough, but overall, great place.

      Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing!

I have been working at Dean College full-time for more than 4 years

        Pros

Fun working with college students. Nice apartments to live in. Decent benefits

        Cons

Work you constantly (nights/weekends). Upper management doesn't invest in you as far as career development. Being a small college there is no room to move up because everybody above you is staying in their position forever. A lot of people get their experience for 2 or 3 years and leave.

        Advice to Management

Give your employees more opportunities to grow. Compensate people for all the extra hours they work. Distribute the workload and don't always just keep piling work on top of people who already work long hours.

I have been working at Dean College

          Pros

Challenging and they provide free housing and many ways that I can be a supported to the students and a food service. I enjoy increasing the size of the quality of education. The people that I work with respect me and I also support them as Best that I can in a daily basis. My family supports Ma and I equally have the opportunity to support them in return. The college board allows me to run the institution with my knowledge...

I worked at Dean College full-time for more than 20 years

          Pros

Students, nice campus and nice cafeteria.

          Cons

Dean claims to be helpful to students of extra needs. These are untrue claims and they are really only doing what the state requires them to be doing by law. However their marketing will tell you that they specialize in student need. The people they have in place are great, but they are not all trained in additional needs for students who have special needs. Dean is typically not these student's first choice as it...
