Pros
Good staff discount The people you work with
Cons
Constant pressure to open up store branded credit cards Management never listen or ask the opinion of floor staff before making radical changes
- Current Employee, more than 1 year★★★★★
Pros
Discount cards available to staff. Food sampling each seasonal menu change.
Cons
Unorganised, rampant bullying, lazy management, nobody knows what they're doing. Store managers are late at paying or more than often get people's payslips wrong on purpose to make up for their overspending. They dock half an hours pay if you're late by a second and can also refuse to pay if you forget to sign in or sign out. No staff benefits unless you take a certain bus firm or live in central London or something. No free or discounted meals unless you use their store cards which are either credit cards or a card you have to top up yourself...

Pros
Discount is good, however goes down at 18 where as pay only goes up at 21.
Cons
PRESSURE on selling Debenhams Master cards. Say they are customer focused but criticise employees who do not open a certain amount of credit cards - even if under 18. Very serious atmosphere, one minor thing goes wrong and it is the end of the world. Lack of team morale.

Pros
The only good thing about working at debenhams was the people I worked with I.e. on the floor
Cons
The cons are too numerous to list. Supervisors and managers don't care about you shift availability and change Rotas without consultation. The pay is poor for the pressure to get accounts (sell credit cards) and the standards they expect. Paper rotas are still used and as such I was underpayed on several ocasions and by several hundred pounds and this took months to get back.
