Glad to get out, dreaded going in for every shift
Sep 18, 2019 - Christmas Temp Customer Assistant, Oxford Street in London, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
Shifts can be great if the staff on duty are friendly with you.otherwise its long and crappy till you leave. Good air con in the staff canteen room. Vending machines in the staff room. It helps if you make friends with the staff as they are the only ones who really will be willing to show u how to do things. Peak time makes hours go fast
Cons
Supervisors/managers worse than one another in terms of just being mean or ignoring you completely, belittling you. Constantly at you for not getting enough credit cards signed up. Poor management on shop floors, was often left in the changing room for hours on ends, also some staff didnt have to do changing rooms and stayed on tills if they were know for getting people to sign up to the credit cards, which is out of order and unfair on the rest. It was like a competition to see which floor could get more cards signed up, seemed like the only important thing.little flexibility with shifts. Managers are know for being rude and having their own cliquel. Theyre nice to you on day one and thats it, afterwards they try to avoid you when on shop floors and speed through checking everythings tidy just incase ceo comes in, then they go straight back up without acknowledging staff. Senior sales advisors can take advantage, they sent me to take rails of clothing to another floor on my first week without giving me the chance to ask how/where i can do this. They said just find someone else to take it down with, and ofcourse it was peak time so no one was available. I had to ask someone from a DIFFERENT shop floor alltogether who aslo agreed it was harsh of the senior sales advisor to ask this of me in the way she did. first and last time i ever worked in retail Also bullying amongst some sales advisors on shop floor, making individuals very upset, was almost like school all over again.

Sep 27, 2018 - Sales Associate in Scunthorpe, EnglandRecommendCEO ApprovalBusiness OutlookPros
- Generally friendly and supportive staff - Good Pay - Each day was different regarding what you were doing - Nice work environment and atmosphere around Christmas was great. - Shifts fit around you (college, uni etc) and we’re flexible
Cons
- Occasionally senior or long term staff were impatient with new staff who were unfamiliar with processes (such as tills) - Training felt inadequate. It took us a while to get used to things (or teach ourselves)

Pros
The other Christmas staff were really nice and friendly that’s about the best thing I experienced
Cons
Very unprofessional, never seen something so poorly organised, never received some training even tho I was on a 20 hour a week contract, the full time staff were very rude and nasty to the part times and there was a number of times they were overheard talking about us

Pros
You are assigned to one department so you get to know it very intimately and gain a fair bit of knowledge quickly. Most members of staff are friendly and will continue to help you greatly throughout your time there. I was there for 2 years as my first job and as far as experiences go, it was a good one.
Cons
Sometimes they can pressure you beyond comfort to get you to commit to overtime which caused some stress regarding examination times.
