I have been working at Deckers Brands (Less than a year)

    Pros

Corporate is always willing to help out when needed. The managers really care about their staff and the growth of the management team. Team work is essential to this job.

    Cons

It is a very high priced product and can sometimes be hard to sell. Customers like to try and bargain and we have to power to do so.

    "Unexpected delight"

Former Employee - Anonymous Employee in Goleta, CA

I worked at Deckers Brands full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Many true, lasting friendships were made in my time spent at Deckers. Excellent benefits are provided by Deckers, including: competitive salary, gym, hybrid car financing, tuition reimbursement, very generous health, dental and vision coverage, stock purchase plan, 401k matching, purchase discounts and special purchase events, team building events, charitable giving match, employer-paid life short and long-term disability insurance and other benefit options.
There are many opportunities for growth.

    Cons

Open workspaces provide noise and visual distractions that interfere with deep thinking and problem solving.
The annual review process is ineffective.

    Advice to Management

Employees don't believe the surveys are anonymous. Management may be missing out on the undercurrents affecting business.
Longevity doesn't equal effectiveness or excellence.

I have been working at Deckers Brands full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Culture, Work / Life Balance, Great Brands, Nice People, lots of room for improvements. Feels like a small company but it really isn't.

    Cons

Less than dynamic, lots of unnecessary, unneeded, and subjective cynicism from veteran employees, slow to make improvements, seems systems are weak and a point of excuse for not being able to do more.

    Advice to Management

One E - Comm Web - Site for All Brands on one and focus to building Outlet Style stores tied directly to e - comm (like amazon is doing)

    Pros

    Great benefits and good pay

    Cons

To much politics happening in upper management.

    Advice to Management

You have forgotten that the little guy within Deckers, makes Deckers who they are.

I worked at Deckers Brands (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Specifically, I worked for Ahnu, one of Deckers' brands. They were incredible flexible with my schedule and provided a lot of autonomy as a freelance designer.

    Cons

The commute from San Francisco to Ahnu's office in Richmond was probably one of the bigger cons about contracting with Deckers. Bridge tolls, fighting traffic during rush hour—nothing out of the usual for the bay area but still a con.

    Advice to Management

My advice would be to continue working with freelancers and continue giving them plenty of autonomy. And keep the number of SKUs lean in your brands!
