I worked at Deer Oaks Mental Health Assoc full-time for more than a year

    Pros

Some flexibility in schedule during the week

    Cons

The fee for service production model with Deer Oaks is horrible. By the time you buy your own computer, internet, pay for the horrible health insurance, no contribution to HSA account, very bad 401k match, insultingly low vacation-2 weeks a year pto for masters or doctoral prepared candidates, $300 a year cme with no cme days -you are so far behind financially, you will never get paid even what's considered competitive....

I worked at Deer Oaks Mental Health Assoc full-time for less than a year

    Pros

Salary appropriate to position. Staff in Texas helpful.

    Cons

Poor clinical management at remote sites. Very poor direction and support. Was to have weekly clinical phone meetings; however, only had 3 phone meetings in 6 months.

    Advice to Management

Review and clarify management responsibilities in serving staff at remote sites.

Thank you for taking a moment to write a review. Great to hear that you found the staff in Texas supportive. Our Deer Oaks Care Team is an essential extension of the clinical providers in the field. Beyond the support of their direct clinical manager, employees have multiple facets ...

I worked at Deer Oaks Mental Health Assoc full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

You get a phone and company card...

    Cons

This company is a "Girls Club," the benefits are a complete joke and the manager did not show up to work at all and would not answer calls or texts. When I left there was 1 guy working in the basement and numerous females. The team lead the manager left in charge THRIVES on sucking up and if you don't suck up then you will be scared into quitting or fired. DO NOT think you can show up to work and just do well at your...

    Advice to Management

Instead of doing actual work the team lead and her boss back each other's excuses for not getting work done. 85% of this company is looking for a job elsewhere strictly because of the narcissistic team lead and her absent/unavailable boss. The team lead only knows how to lead by public shaming and by fear(which is how most villains lead in tv shows and movies). Instead of continually hiring new employees you need...

I worked at Deer Oaks Mental Health Assoc full-time

      Pros

Some management was helpful & cared about the employees.

      Cons

High management turnover. CEO was more interested in the day to day gossip instead of keeping knowledgeable hard working employees who wanted to help the company.

      Advice to Management

Employees do know more than management & actually care about helping the company make more $. Recognition & employee morale are always a plus. Managers would benefit from professional contrusctive criticism courses.

I have been working at Deer Oaks Mental Health Assoc full-time for less than a year

      Pros

The leadership team is always listening and taking advice, my coworkers, the structure of Deer Oaks, always someone available to answer your questions. My last jobs were in the communities that we provide services to. I'm glad that I am no longer there. Between the everyday drama between coworkers, the pressures of forcing seniors to move in to your community and pay 7-10 thousand a month and struggle with being short...

I have been working at Deer Oaks Mental Health Assoc full-time for more than 10 years

      Pros

Deer Oaks is a conglomerate of clinical and administrative staff that are driven and flexible, most importantly a team that is willing to partner together to further shape the field of geropsychology to benefit the patient population served by our company (individuals residing in a rehab setting facing setbacks related to physical and behavioral health needs). I love that we are making a difference in the lives of the...

Navigating managed care and the impact it has on service delivery is tough.

      Advice to Management

Keep pushing and expanding. Service delivery by our staff is exceptional and more communities need to experience it.

I worked at Deer Oaks Mental Health Assoc full-time

      Pros

You have some flexibility in your schedule.

      Cons

They tell you that you will make a certain salary, but then when you start working you find out your salary really depends on how many people you see and for how long. You have no control over the number of clients that you are given to see.

      Advice to Management

When you have professionals working for you treat them as professionals and trust them to do their job without penalty or productivity expectations. A salary is a salary.
