    Pros

The benefits are incredible. Nothing like government time off and flex time.

    Cons

Lack of training. Work here long enough and it will suck your soul away.

    Advice to Management

Actually pay attention to your employees and their needs. Stop being terrible leaders

I worked at Defense Contract Management Agency full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Any job with DCMA has a huge factor of predictability
It is very hard to get fired
    Pay is very predictable
    Promotions paths are well defined

    Cons

Often hard to see the difference you make due to the size and expanse of the projects underway
    No bonuses to motivate
People who should have been fired take up space and time because it is hard to fire them; they often get promoted to get rid of them

    Advice to Management

Lobby Congress's to make process for hiring and firing people more similar to the civil sector

I have been working at Defense Contract Management Agency full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Benefits including healthcare, dental, vision, flexible spending accounts, pension, employer contribution retirement plan with agency matching, advancement opportunities, training, flexible work schedules, paid holidays, generous sick and annual leave.

    Cons

High turnover. Many of the positions in the agency, especially in contract administration suffer from high turnover due to the abundant opportunities for advancement in the contracting career field.

    Advice to Management

Impose agency retention agreements for more positions and not just the Keystone and Critical Acquisition coded positions.

I worked at Defense Contract Management Agency full-time

    Pros

DCMA is a GREAT way to start your career in contracting. Depending on the team you are assigned to you can really learn a lot and be proficient in post award administration.

    Cons

The downside is that depending on the team you are assigned to, you can really be handicapped and not learn much besides basic tasks.

    Advice to Management

My advise to management is to become or remain approachable however it is not necessary to attempt to become "friends" with everyone. People respect you more when they know that they can come to you as needed for advice and know that your conversations will remain confidential and not be spread across the office.

I have been working at Defense Contract Management Agency full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Great Benefits, Unbelievably Political and Strongly Encourages Nepotism.

It's like an MS-13 family so if you have previous gang involvement you fit perfectly. No real experience is needed, literally any work history is accepted. In fact this office in particular discourages hiring those with a strong business background.

There is always an event or occurrence to keep you entertained. Competition for promotions is "cut throat" to the highest degree. Competitors begin their campaign early to get momentum going. False claims, allegations, rumors, backstabbing...Hans Dantes Inferno, every sin you can think of. Employees are ready to go the extra mile to get the position. Anything goes, management will protect you by any means necessary and also help you destroy your competition.

All sarcasm aside if you can find a great location with seasoned true professionals, this Agency can offer you one of the most rewarding group of careers the government has to offer.

    Cons

There are a few truly nice people who are passionate about giving their best, performing at the highest standards and mentoring newer employees with the best professional and business ethics possible, they like doing things with integrity.....that just does not fit into the real DCMA program.

    Advice to Management

Your doing exactly what you were brought up and trained to do. No one is stopping you so keep doing it, right or wrong
