I worked at Del Taco full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    Easy to get hired.

    Not much experience needed.

    Easy to apply.

Half of the uniform is provided

    Not many pros

    Cons

    Management ignores workers needs.

A lot of cleaning is done by hand.

    Most equipment is broken.

Lots of homeless people and random write ups based on employers mood.

    Advice to Management

Should have follow up surveys on store managers.

I have been working at Del Taco part-time

    Pros

    Good CoWorkers
    Good number of hours
Fast pace (plus for me, but you may not like this)
I get 30 hrs/wk and every other day off, so that's pretty nice.

    Cons

Constantly asked to stay extra hours literally as I'm supposed to be leaving for the day.
I don't mind staying longer but seriously, I'm scheduled to leave at a certain time and would really like some notice if you need me longer.

On that note, not enough people hired to cover everything

If I couldn't speak spanish, I couldn't communicate with almost a third of my coworkers.

I have been working at Del Taco full-time

    Pros

Excellent people in various departments. Marketing. Training. Operations.

    Cons

Delusional goals. Employees frequently cheating the systems. Training store managers and normal GMs find ways to cheat, whether it be on GEM, speed of service, food costs, labor. Sales are the only honest figure that Del taco has.

Upper management (regional and area directors) are aware of cheating. Do nothing to discourage it. All they care about are their numbers.

They also stop viewing their managers as people. There was a point where "passion, integrity, efficiency, courage, and excellence" were a legitimate creed within the company. that all went down the drain.

Expected to work ridiculous hours. Your life takes a spot in the back burner. It's absurd. Lots of strenuous demands and really, no reason for it.

Now that the culture is guest centric, we are held accountable for your little surveys you fill out that are on the bottom of your receipt. Give us a four? We are red and our bosses are on our cases. It's fives or nothing.

DEL TACO DEHUMANIZES ITS EMPLOYEES AND IS A CHEATING COMPANY.

    Advice to Management

Stop setting the bar so high. Visit your high performing stores and see how they get the results they get. It's not through honesty, I'll tell you as much.

Understand that the guest is most certainly NOT always right. It's nice to be delusional in your tiny little cubicles in lake forest (or a full sized office if you kiss enough butt), but the reality is customers are often abusive and jerks to employees and management. When you give them "plus one service" you condition the guest into adopting a specific mindset...

    1) get food
    2) eat most of it
    3) complain
    4) get something free
    5)repeat steps 1-5

Frustrating. Had high hopes for this place, but now it feels like I've wasted years of my life for nothing. Disillusionment is a jerk.
