I have been working at Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Flexible work time. Good opportunity to learn and practice VISUM, GIS and Python. People are nice, and willing to help.

    Cons

Work could be very tedious. Have to collect, clean and combine data from multiple different sources and the nature of this kind of work is tedious.

    Advice to Management

It was a pretty good experience, but to make it to 20 words I have to say a bit more about this job.

I have been working at Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (Less than a year)

    Pros

Interesting work in the planning field, as we touch on many topics that effect our region.

    Cons

Lack of union or fair compensation schedule creates an environment of the "haves" and the "have nots". Pay for performance is a joke. Once you are established, your chances of advancement diminish, since more credibility and weight is given to the Millenials, then the Gen X and Y. The Baby Boomers are all but written off at this point.

    Advice to Management

Most managers have risen from the ranks. Very few have management skills, or are aware of basic management concepts, and it shows.

I have been working at Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission (Less than a year)

    Pros

Had a great supervisor who gave me interesting projects. Intern work is dependent on how diligent the supervisor is.

    Cons

Difficult to get to know everyone in the office - it's a big company, and interns come and go.

I have been working at Delaware Valley Regional Planning Commission full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

It's an adult working environment that strives to produce solid and valuable work for the region. Staff are treated fairly. Most employees are easy to get along with. The benefit package is extremely generous. It feels good to come to work everyday.

    Cons

Sometimes staff grumble unnecessarily, not realizing how good working here is compared to other places.

    Advice to Management

    Should explore virtual workplace options
