I enjoyed my working and was always satisfied during my internship, so I do not think that there are negatives.

    Advice to Management

The management was very good to me and should continue this great work with other interns as well.

I have been working at Delhi Metro Rail full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    1. Growing organization. Demands dynamism in work culture.
    2. Demands good coordination skills, lot of departments like S&T, Operations, E&M, Traction, Track, Rolling stock, Property development, Architecture, Civil Engineering, Planning and design, HR and Finance.
    3. Provides good exposure for new graduate entrants and enhance their managerial skills.
    4. Time bound delivery of project has given utmost priority.
    5. Exposure to latest technologies like ATC, CBTC, Tunneling, balastless tracks. viaducts, rolling stock.
    6. dealing with wold class agencies/contractor like ALSTOM, Bombardier, Siemens, Nippon, L&T, Blue star, Systra, AECOM, ARIF etc.
    7. Good Pay Package as compare to private sector for new graduate entrants.
    8. Provide good exposure for project management.
    9. Excellent brand name and leading organization in MRTS. Providing consultancy and execution support to other metros coming in india like JMRC, MEGA, MMRC, BMRCL, KMRCL,
CMRCL etc. also providing consultancy to foreign metros like in DHAKA.
10.DMRC is imperative to delhi. Delhi people respect DMRC and actively support this organization.
    11. reputation is increased so much that DMRC is now working for project which are usually given to PWD or Other departments.
    12. Medical almost free. loan at minimal rate. other perquisites are also good.

    Cons

    1. Organization is at its nascent stage. Promotion structure is not well defined.
    2. People from other organizations have old management methods which are not inline with latest development in method.
    3. stagnation at non executive level is very high. demotivating for them, executive level is also suffering from the same because of mass recruitment at every level up to junior and middle management.
4.People employed routine job like train operations and stations might feel demotivated due to their static work.
    5. HR practices are not good and not in line with latest developments. government culture prevails more in these departments.
6.however initial pay package offered to graduate is good. but promotional avenues are time bound and seniority based (as typical in government services). so pay package after initial appointment does not increase as in private organizations.

    Advice to Management

    1. Look in to HR practices. provide more avenue of promotion to non executive and executive. so that employee can stay motivated.
    2. Junior, middle and senior management should be sensitized toward employee needs.
    3. culture of sycophancy shall be checked.
    4. hard work shall be awarded and professional ethics shall be inculcated.
    5. proper initial training should be give to new entrants. rather than sending them directly to on job and learn.

I have been working at Delhi Metro Rail full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

    its a job.
you will get salary and most of other perks or facilities which one surely gets else where.
you can say bye to studies as you are in a job.

    Cons

what does one ask for himself or herself from this life ... i think most of us wants satisfaction .. respect ..money.. happiness.. and many more .. but but but my dear friends ... but for those for whom job is more then working in a cage please think twice.
    1. if you are better qualified please keep trying more..as dont expect promotion here,,or expect only on paper. as you may end up driving train for half of your career more.
    2. FOR THE SAME PROFILE DMRC HAS RECRUITED people from B.Sc/ B.Tech/ diploma... so u may curse yurself when you will be selected.
    3. personally most of the non executive are not supportive because they are basically obsequious.or chamchas , so they will be like always looking chances for there good so do not expect anything...
4.job timing keep on changing everday.. insane timings 2.43 pm, 3.11pm, 5.45am,7.39 am..please mind the minutes.. as if you are late you are screwed for sure.. after all you are driver..you cant be late . you are a robot.. and at times few executives have also said that driving is a robotic job so they may replace drivers with autorun trains.
5.FRIENDS this is for those who are into drinking. dmrc conducts a breath analyses test regularly when you reaches your work place. so one has to stop boozing ..as though its a 8 hour job which may get increased and it very CLEARLY WRITTEN IN NOTIFICATION, Please read it again. its a 6 day working so forget to paln anything,, as your timings hardly gets in sync with your near and loved ones.
6.want to study further then this is not the place , i dont know why it happens whenever one says i am preparing for something better your senior starts becoming more rigid towards you.
    7. dont forget the bond amount.. you have to give it to them when the time comes.
    8. senior dont pay heed to good advices from non executives staff.
9.you will definately not rise to sny of top position, no matter you do whatever, as most of the time indian railways occupies the cup.
10.your HEALTH may suffer as grueling night shifts and changing roster system may end up lifestyle based diseases , like diabetes or and any stress related one. also your lunch liming keep on changing in OPERATION department.
    11. boy YOU will not love it but be prepared to work on saturdays and sundays, mostly and in addition on all NATIONAL HOLIDAYS AND mind it ON ALL FESTIVALS YOU LOVE, be it eid , diwali, chiristmas, gurunanak diwas, 26 jan, if august. or in simple language, go to the calendar and all days marked red are the days you will be working on most of the occasions .
12.demotivating things keeps on happening, management does hardly anything to destress the staff but leaves no stone unturned when it comes to penal actions.
    12. IN an Organisation it should be made clear that no body is working for an individual. we all work for oraganisation, THATS DMRC in the said case. so officers non evecutives are neither slaves nor puppets.
NO NO NOT AT ALL WORK LIFE BALANCE,even private sector mnc work for 5 days and take care of there employee. I am talking about good and reputed companies, firms, institutions,
. the list can go on and on.. but i feel that its your decision what you want from life.,, ultimately you get what you wants , given that make right choices and correct decisions. its your life not mine... best of luck to each and every one of you, you all have potential to make big..

    Advice to Management

    please read cons above,
please remove this thought that non executives are slaves.. slavery has been abolished long ago, and its a request to all that you too have to leave it. make environment better, your VISION , MISSION , CULTURE needs improvements .. dmrc expects belongingness to the organisation and bla bla.. what not. you first love the employee then expect these else bookish concept.. employess are suffering because of bad policies and the criteria like b.sc , btech diploma.. its meaningless.. this will make the system, so think for improvement rather then finding flaws in employees.. just like they are too got through the whole recruitment/ hiring procedure. thanks
