I have been working at Dell full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Big company with benefits typically associated with a big company: competitive salary, good benefits package, opportunity to continue career laterally or upward within same company. Good future vision for Dell Technologies.

    Cons

EMC culture being replaced by Dell culture. Many prior EMC employees being let go; expect trend to continue as new Dell business model evolves.

I worked at Dell full-time (More than 8 years)

    Pros

Fast Paced, Industry Leader, Great Benefits, Better than average compensation

    Cons

The environment is cutthroat and toxic at times, and corporate culture has suffered significantly during the last five years. Focus on OPEX has led to workforce reductions and failure to invest in people, training, and facilities. Many of the good people have left for new opportunities and better work-life balance.

    Advice to Management

Refocus on your most valuable assets, people. At one time, I would have followed leadership over the hill not knowing or caring what dangers lurked on the other side. Today, I don't trust leadership to take care of people and believe people at the company only follow as a result of fear, intimidation, and perceived job security.

I have been working at Dell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Still learning about Dell the company, the EMC culture is being swept away piece by piece.

    Cons

Going through integration and layoffs, not a fun time to be here.
    - The Massachusetts resources are being pushed out the door while the Texas resources aren't changed (not what management told us would happen).

    Advice to Management

    be truthful and communicate

I have been working at Dell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

EMC was acquired by Dell in September of 2016, so my experience as a Dell-EMC employee is only a few months old.
-Great place to grow and mature a career, but highly dependent on your BU and role
-Culture of really smart, hardworking people at every level, it is extremely rare to find deadwood
-End-to-end infrastructure solutions play, which is really necessary when trying to answer "Why EMC?" for your customer.
-Benefits, pay, vacation and VCP are all above market levels, but that could quickly change
-Reputation as a trusted vendor carries a LOT of weight with almost all clients
-Really excellent online training opportunities about ALL EMC products

    Cons

-Cloud options are focused on EMC-labeled product lines only, even when it is obvious a competitor is the market leader
-Poor partering relationships makes for mediocre fit for customer
-Problematic services/products integrations with cross-EMC brands (e.g Pivotal, Virtustream, EMC, VCE)
-If in pre-sales professional services, you can expect to be measured not just on HOW many fixed price deals you sell but the SIZE of the offerings in your space; a rock and a hard place conundrum.

    Advice to Management

-Require less time in weekly status calls that require input from dozens of attendees
-Partner better internally with the different Dell-EMC brands
-Do better at allowing experienced employees to gain career exposure to other EMC product areas

I have been working at Dell full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Strong compensation plan
No patience for team members who don't pull their weight
    Maniacal focus on customer success
    Good benefits

    Cons

Demanding culture. If you're not willing to "do what it takes" then this isn't the place for you
Typical big company stuff...lots of reporting, training etc.

    Advice to Management

Take the best of the Dell and EMC cultures to take both organizations to the next level
