    Pros

I love taking care of kids and being a nurse. It is a busy and stressful job-but very rewarding.

    Cons

    The health benefits are expensive.

I worked at Dell Children's Medical Center full-time

    Pros

Great coworkers and physicians. Working with the children is amazing.

    Cons

Upper Mangaement runs it more like a corporation than a hospital now. Be prepared to be overworked then sent home. To many big wigs and not enough staff.

I have been working at Dell Children's Medical Center full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

The local management in my location is pretty good. no issues there. The job isn't hard once you've learned how to fix most basic issues.

    Cons

Not a bad job by any means, it's just extremely stressful, since the management only hires the bare minimum techs to handle an area, so you get very easily overwhelmed when a large number of people put in tickets at once. if you get hired on full time from the contractor position, you only get paid an extra dollar or so per hour.

    Advice to Management

I get that any time that you see an associate sitting with no work is a huge problem in your eyes, but it's far worse when we're unable to get to every ticket in a day, and explain why support is taking days to arrive.

hire enough people to keep the job feeling relaxed so we can actually give customer service, and actually pay a decent wage for the position, preferably based on the user's experience and certifications. It's hard to keep a smile on your face when you are wondering whether or not you can even pay rent. this is an expensive city to live in.

Consider not growing management but grow staff

I worked at Dell Children's Medical Center full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

I worked with a great team of NP/MDs

    Cons

Lack of institutional support; forced to work overtime in order to make a competitive salary; NPs and PAs ran by RNs instead of having their own advanced practice organization within; children hospital within adult system meaning low salaries and many cuts; at times terrible care - wouldn't take my child there; poor research and such opportunities; poor retention

It's a children's hospital, so it was heartbreaking at times.

I worked at Dell Children's Medical Center (More than a year)

    Pros

If you work hard and care about your job and the population this job serves, there are opportunities for advancement.

    Cons

There is a lot of turnover in personnel, at least at the registration and patient access level. Remember, this is a hospital, so the hours can be inconvenient. You have to take turns working weekends, holidays, early mornings, and late nights.
