    Advice to Management

Innovate as much as possible and don't forget to invest innovation $$ into cost centers vs profit centers

I worked at Dell (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A very stable and reliable company, you never have to worry if your next check will show up or not.

    Cons

the consulting position I held required far too much travel and I was never home (only on weekends). This started after the original company I worked for was acquired by Dell.

I worked at Dell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

I gained a lot of experience for the 6 years I was there.

    Cons

The organization constantly dangled a carrot in front of you to do more work but they didn't want to pay. During review time if you got a new position shortly before review time they would only review you based on your new position and you would be marked inadequate. There were no real opportunities to grow just do more work.

I have been working at Dell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

A strength in this company is the collaboration within each team. I honestly can not quite think of any others.

    Cons

Management dysfunction from the top down. Executives completely out of touch with employee base. Middle management heavy. All aspects of the business are conducted like a help desk ticket including human resources. Slow moving, reactionary management of people and processes.

    Advice to Management

Quit cheer leading and lead. Take a good hard look at middle management. Where are the constant problems and the regular need to juggle personnel? This is a problem.
