I have been working at Dell full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Focus on work/life balance, with a supportive team atmosphere that foster trust to makes you feel like if you take time off you won't be coming back to a large amount of work that just hasn't been completed. It is a very energetic company with a passion to push the boundaries forward and do to truly make the world a better place.

    Cons

It's hard to share any negative. I both love my job, love the people I work with and love the challenges that are presented to me every day. If you are not adept to working in a fast pace, highly collaborative and forward thinking company then this is probably not the place for you.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the good work and continue with the integration of two remarkable companies to make the largest and best one in the world!

I worked at Dell full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

compensation if you are there long enough is very good. Better online training now that EMC is in the mix. Good products which customers like.

    Cons

In sales they move you into new positions without consulting you. This happened in 2016 like every 90 days or so.For example, they would often change selling roles from a pure sales specialist to a technical consultant even though you may not be a very technical type like a systems engineer. You have no choice in this movement, you either accept the new role or leave. Quotas are huge and basically unattainable. They change your account list at the drop of a hat. So the hard work you put into an account can be yanked away in 90 days. Dell says that they want their sales force to be considered "trusted advisors" by their customers, but not really. 70% of sales people are on a performance plan at Dell at any point of time. Dell acquired EMC in 2016 and has taken over the sales process. The inside and outside sales people at Dell are top notch and pounded for numbers. Lastly, delivery on components can be a big problem. Dell had multiple months of notice on this coming component shortage problem and didn't plan well. The sales people suffered the pain and lost many sales due to this since Dell couldn't ship the necessary parts.

    Advice to Management

Leverage your good people for what talents they are good at. Don't push good sales people around like pieces on a chessboard. Make the quotas more realistic.
