I have been working at Delmar Gardens full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Residents and their families are a treasure.

Management is fair and rewards hardworking employees.

    Cons

Sometimes it is hard to find a parking spot.

    Advice to Management

You are doing a great job, there are many aspects to running a top notch facility, and you love, caring, and understanding are always appreciated!

I worked at Delmar Gardens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

It is a clean facility and the work is no better or worse than any other nursing home.

    Cons

Staffing was always hit or miss. Nurses were absolutely dreadful to CNAs. Rude, sneering, name calling.

    Advice to Management

CNAs matter, too. Allowing the nurse's to be rude and hurtful is not ok. You shouldn't accept poor behavior simply because you need shifts covered.

    Pros

Company mission is true and honorable. Employees are valued. Annual raises and year-end bonuses for everyone! Great benefits and management aknowledges and rewards tenure.
Happy residents and families are the best!

    Cons

There is a vacation freeze period in December. You can get an exception to this. It is to ensure residents have family with them over the holidays. Many residents look to employees as their family.

    Advice to Management

Keep doing what you are doing!

I have been working at Delmar Gardens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Brown nose with administartion and youll have no problems, as well as practice the i didnt see a thing routine.

    Cons

To many clicks and there was never enough staff on evenings or overnight, there was alot of drama created by the youger staff that were there just to collect a pay check. And if staff didnt show we were told we had to stay to keep above fire code which was never ever done

    Advice to Management

Get off the point system , relax and keep your word and dont make a promise that you cant keep.

I worked at Delmar Gardens full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Beautiful facilities, they put a lot of money into their decor. The original owner are now deceased but were great people.

    Cons

One of the most racist company to work for. Corporate is backstabbing and are not concerned about the small employees' It was so sad to see how the whole organization plays favoritism based on your skin color. I saw it all first hand and my hands were tied. They need to revamp all of corporate as well and Administrators who really care about their staff. Extremely high turn over. Praying for them!!!!!

    Advice to Management

Take classes on how to manage employees and teamwork. Communication is very important in an organization.

I have been working at Delmar Gardens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Management is nice. Coworkers or friendly enough. There's a few who aren't but who cares.

    Cons

3rd shift is hardly ever fully ataffed. How do you expect the quality of care to remain decent if their aren't enough people to cover.

    Advice to Management

Better incentives for Nurse aids to stay after completing accreditation class.
