I have been working at Delmar Gardens full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits, great residents, some great nurses, good food, good pay

    Cons

Administration doesn't help, work load is too heavy for nurses, breaks are limited

    Advice to Management

Patient care is always first no matter what, better team work needed to be a successful business and to keep good nurses

I have been working at Delmar Gardens part-time (More than a year)

    Pros

I work Prn. It is flexible. They are willing to accept 4 hour shifts. Which works well with my schedule.

    Cons

Not enough staff. Heavy resident load. Unwilling to terminate staff that don't show up for a shift.

    Advice to Management

Lower resident to staff ratios. More training for the CNAs.

I worked at Delmar Gardens full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

    Free meal every day.
    Insurance was decent though expensive
    Some room for advancement...maybe

    Cons

Staffing was always low and nobody ever wanted to show up to work.
My particular boss never wanted to pay me overtime even though I stayed overtime on occasions.
Only family members of the owner and Friends get to have a chance at High End jobs.
They work you sometimes 10 days in a row without overtime because they connect your to work weeks together but don't go over 40 hours every week.
The bosses of each building are enticed to save money at the expense of the residents and employees, because they get a bonus at the end of the year based on how well they stay within or below budget.
Communication between employees and management is virtually non-existent and higher management seems clueless at times.
    Pay is awful.

    Advice to Management

Take your heads out of your __ and treat your employees better and spend some of that money towards the residents, who pay so much

I worked at Delmar Gardens full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

CEO is great but sheltered from many of the issues within the business. Very good benefits. Great mission statement which was started by a great family.

    Cons

Neptunism. Family get to high management positions and when they do not perform their duties correctly it is ignored and they are protected. They can do no wrong but others are fired for the same thing.

    Advice to Management

The CEO needs to look deep into management and find out the real truths about his business.

    Cons

Start using agency to make sure that the facility is well staffed until you can hire the staff you need.
