I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Good high profile and variety of projects. Great band name and well respected in the marketplace. Good team members and some really smart people that you can learn a lot from.

    Cons

The career progression process is too subjective and a lot of lobbying to get promotions. Can get lost in big numbers.

    Advice to Management

Keep up the company culture. Keep up the quality of delivery and people through recognition and retention of good talent.

    Pros

Intelligent, likeminded individuals. Great career opportunities

    Cons

Lots expected of you, can be overwhelming

    Advice to Management

Salaries in the UK are far too low and haven't increased for years.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Work with lots of like-minded and driven people.
There are plenty of opportunities to impress - I got the distinct imjpression it was easier to impress and stand out in a regional office compared to in London when I discussed work with colleagues.
You can work on engagements with big firms, FTSE 100/250 regularly.

    Cons

Sometimes felt as if people were more interesting in progressing up the well-trodden ladder, rather than actually work on skills and get better at their job. Ultimately I think this is what caused a lack of technical knowledge and technical progression within the department.

    Advice to Management

Highlught opportunities that wil; be available to those who develop technical skills as opposed to relying upon being a Deloitte alumnus for the rest of their career,.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Leading Teams, experience with business, exposure to FC's and FD's. Get to delegate and use time management efficiently and effectively

    Cons

Long hours, not enough pay, working at weekends. Big jump up from senior associate with limited training to help you.

I worked at Deloitte as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Deloitte is a great firm - large, international, forward-looking etc. The people were, on the most part, intelligent, friendly and down-to-earth. I was given quite a lot of responsibility and exposure, definitely felt valued. They put a lot of effort into the social side of things.

    Cons

I felt corporate tax was perhaps a bit limiting from a career pov, so I declined my graduate offer. Also three weeks is hardly enough time to properly assess whether you'd like to work somewhere, much shorter than the other Big 4 summer internships.

    Advice to Management

Think about the length of the internship! It might be nice to be given exposure to other functions within corporate tax (transfer pricing etc.). Otherwise, very strong, so keep at it, I guess...

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

    - Young average age across the office
    - Lots of effort made with social events, drinks after work, lunch, charity events etc.
    - Promotions are frequent and incremental.
    - Flexible benefits scheme which allows you to take up to 5 days extra holiday, for example, or take cash in hand.

    Cons

    - Work for associates can be repetitive
    - Lack of accountability to/interaction with clients until you become more senior (this definitely depends upon service line).
    - Can feel like a small fish in a massive pond at such an enormous company.

    Advice to Management

I think the vast majority of what Deloitte is doing at the moment in terms of the employees' experience is great and sets it apart from other Accountancy firms in the eyes of applicants. Deloitte's weakness is that it plugs specialisation even within service lines. Whilst this is to be expected to an extent, too much specialisation can make work restrictive and repetitive, so maybe encourage more rotations even after qualification.

    Pros

Look after workers as long as you stay and can differentiate yourself. It is very dependent on teams but the company itself is great

    Cons

Such a large company it is hard to get real recognition, bonus and wage do not vary per employee which is good in a way but bad if you want to stand out
