    Positive Outlook

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

    -Opportunities to grow
-Work on interesting projects with C-Suite from an Analyst level

    Cons

-Can get "pigeon holed" in a specific industry / role
-Company preaches work-life fit but in reality, you work very long hours with limited opportunities to escape the Monday - Thursday (or even Friday) travel to client site
-Expectation to contribute to practice development (white papers, communities of practice) which ends up being paramount to good performance ratings

    Advice to Management

-Less demands on PRD (practice development) to allow more flexibility in schedule
-More opportunities to work from local office v. travel routinely

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

good work-life balance, consistent work. There used to be a big push to do a LOT of internal work, but that has scaled back over the years

    Cons

Federal work is mostly long-term contracts, the ability to learn new skills is lower than the commercial side

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

Great people to work with at your level
Everyone puts in long hours to make sure things get done

    Cons

When you hit the bench it is like you are invisible. No one cares, it is all about making money and so they'll ignore you until they need you--suddenly you're their best friend
There is no opportunity to pick your career path until you have been in the firm for several years. New hires are stuck in whatever field they were thrown into until they've gained seniority

    Advice to Management

Allow more tailored careers. Requiring experience before allowing someone to explore different areas is like requiring 5 years work experience for an entry level position. Give people a chance!

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Family leave benefit is amazing and you are surrounded by talented and experienced individuals who can be great mentors. The expectations are high, but my experience is that there are a wealth of tools and individuals in the organization to help you succeed.

    Cons

Work life balance can be a real challenge at any workplace. Deloitte has provided more and more flexible options to practitioners to help create a more sustainable working rhythm. Ownership is on you to set appropriate expectations and boundaries through clear communication with your project teams and leadership to ensure you can avoid burnout.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

Some people are nice to work with.

    Cons

Large firm. They pretend to be innovative and appreciate divergent thinking, but really don't. If you're good at Groupthink, you'll love this firm. You must network and work for free on a number of firm initiatives should you want to accelerate your career. Doing a great job on client work will not get you ahead here. At the end of the day, I left because there are many mediocre consultants just following marching orders.

    Advice to Management

Stop thinking that the reputation of Deloitte means you deserve it. Earn it.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

One of the best places to start your career
Challenging work if you enjoy problem solving
If you hate your project / work, there's usually still an end to it (rather than quitting if you have a regular job with the same work / boss)
Good compensation / pension plan when you finally make it to P/PMD level
Good for stability if you are a decent performer
Work life balance if you are on a good project

    Cons

Raises are probably mediocre at best
Project delivery is the most important thing for us (and client) as consultants, but that contribution to our core business don't seem to matter as much at year end
Lots of admin tasks taking up a significant amount of time - and only impacts negatively to your performance if you don't do them - most notably the staffing system which replaced a working system (for the end user - probably not for reporting) with a worse one
Burning time with varying level of use of the term "Productive Time" - wait.. did I say burning time which we were not supposed to years ago?
Firm contribution is a big part of your job, may be not so much in other parts of the firm (can't speak for all the practices) but expect to spend an extra 200 - 300 hours doing "impactful" firm activities if you are in Consulting so they don't ding you for not doing it
Performance system was kinda broken but progressively got worse (from Supporting Success to the latest iRPM). And it's increasingly more about checking the boxes above, and then who you know (the system is broken right? so we went back to the most effective method!) and don't know. People get screwed along the way because they are not as well connected or if they are not the best at networking
Up or out mentality when you get to the management level, we don't do a good job retaining people who are really good at doing what they do at their current level and find a place for them
With all these points above, work-life balances, while it's there, requires you to be absolutely vocal and make sure you don't get on a bad project / stretch

    Advice to Management

Fix the performance and compensation system or just do away with it. It's a waste of time if utilization, firm contribution, and then networking is all that matters
Find a way to keep people who are not P/PMD or possibly even SM personality and find a way to still have them perform, contribute, and grow in the firm
