I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Incredible growth and visibility to leading clients, people, technologies and processes. Deloitte University is incredible

    Cons

Change. Constant change. Once something has been implemented they are back making changes. It's exhausting from an employees standpoint. I get it, but it sometimes feels like change for the sake of change. Pay can be low, raises, bonuses, etc., but many other incredible benefits.

    Advice to Management

No advice. Just experienced record growth. Keep doing what you're doing!

    Pros

    - No numeric ratings
    - On/Off track based evaluations

    - Newly implemented system which leads to a lot of bias in the evaluation process
    - Mid-year and year-end evaluation process is very subjective and does not reflect true performance of the employee
    - DO NOT BE PART OF A BIG ENGAGEMENT TEAM! - you end up working significantly more hours than on smaller engagements and do not get recognition for it (i.e. mid-year and year-end evaluations do not take into consideration complexity/size/hours worked on the engagement. Instead they evaluate and compare all employees equally regardless of the engagement)

The evaluation system needs to be improved in order to reflect true performance of the employees being evaluated.

    Pros

Experience here sets you up for success anywhere.

    Cons

Working at a big firm requires you to do quite a bit of unattractive work that isn't interesting or excelling your career.

    Advice to Management

Status quo is no longer acceptable. Just because you had to learn the ropes in a grind, strict, and conservative environment when you were up and coming at the firm doesn't mean that is still how the firm should be ran.

I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Good compensation and bonus if you don't step in anybody's toes

    Cons

Challenge the wrong Senior Manager or Partner and your career is over independent on how well you perform. Unfortunately there are many people in leadership roles that have a very old fashioned mentality and don't see where the real talent is.

There's a lot of talk about work/life balance; however, people still work 60 hours/week and they make you feel embarrassed if you decide to take some time off.

    Advice to Management

    Reinvent the culture

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 5 years)

    Pros

If you're willing to do your time for a couple-three years, it's a great name to have on your resume. Good health benefits.

    Cons

Don't expect to "get ahead" if you're not part of the 'in' crowd or willing to have no life.

Now, if you're willing to have no life, attack this with vigor, because you MAY be rewarded.

However, should you experience "separation", you'll encounter passive-aggressiveness in a corporate environment like you've never experienced, previously.

    Advice to Management

Your associates...these are the worker bees who make you money...and a helluva lot of it. Learn to share, and not change the rules every freakin' year.

We associates don't travel, have almost no costs outside of base pay...understand we can do the job better than those from Asia and earn you an incredible amount of money over time.

I know I was billed out at over 100% of my base pay, but yeah, come review/raise/profit sharing time...thanks for giving me the finger.

All of this will bite you in the end. Right now, it's the Big 4. Keep it up, and one of the others will suck you in at a very significant discount. My money is on E&Y.
