I worked at Deloitte as an intern (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great team focus and relationships. Great pay with plenty of overtime and lots of delicious meals to keep morale up. Despite busy seasons being hectic, everyone I worked with was happy to help the newer/less-experienced people learn.

    Cons

Public accounting and audit is especially draining regardless of where you go. Also, as cool as Deloitte University is, it would be nice to vary the destinations for training.

    Advice to Management

Keep on doing what you're doing with ensuring team-members of every level are included and accounted for.

I have been working at Deloitte (Less than a year)

    Pros

I am proud to continue to be affiliated with Bersin by Deloitte's annual IMPACT conferences. Josh Bersin and I started IMPACT back in 2008; the conference has continued to grow every year.

    Cons

The conference requires significant planning and coordination. We usually recruit about 50 corporate executives to participate each year.

    Advice to Management

Begin planning as early as possible.

I worked at Deloitte (More than a year)

    Pros

I had the good fortune of working with some of the most bright, talented and hard working professionals of my career. For those who do not have a masters, you may still have opportunities to get on as a contractor. At that point, it is all about establishing your brand. And your brand must be superb to excel within Deloitte. Bring your best at all times and you will have great opportunities opened up to you. Those who take those opportunities will flourish.

    Cons

Work/life balance can be really challenging. For a short time, I was pursuing an opportunity to transition from being a contractor to a consultant. Life got in the way and I had to postpone my goals. Once that window of opportunity closed, I never had the chance to get it back. Upon further reflection however, I don't see any point in my life where I would be comfortable with the uncertainty of where I will be working, what sort of projects I will be involved with and how long I would be away from home. This is a personal decision and for a young professional, this "con" may truly be an exciting adventure. Deloitte has a constant influx of young talent, so in this organization, you move up or you move out. Be prepared to demonstrate your competitive value to everyone at all times.

    Advice to Management

For the most part, the managers I interacted with at Deloitte were superb. They are very talented, driven and committed. I did have one manager who had an amazing resume and could talk a good game, but on a personal level he was very unprofessional and made inappropriate advances and innuendos to young interns. Make sure to weed those sorts out because those types of individuals can really diminish an otherwise outstanding organization.

    Pros

Large firm with diverse projects. Peers are excellent to work with. Good benefits.

    Cons

Very policitcal across the consulting practice. Experience hires have less opportunities to succeed when networking. Experience hires are treated like second class citizens in the firm and this attitude is reflected in the pay scale.

    Pros

Product / Software independent. Good bonus structure and extremely flexible work locations as they have many offices. Ability to make partner/director is quite realistic

    Cons

Same as all consulting groups. Grueling travel schedule at times unless you work in a major city that is defined by your industry. Houston Energy, NYC Finance, LA Media and Entertainment etc.

I worked at Deloitte (More than a year)

    Pros

Great benefits and good place to work. You are your own boss. Really smart people with cutting edge business ideas.

    Cons

Work life balance is limited. Not for people who need a structured work environment. Due to company size, fractured knowledge base.

    Advice to Management

Listen to the folks who have experience doing the work. Need to combine like-skills to better serve clients. Need to look at other market segments.

    Disapproves of CEO

I worked at Deloitte full-time (Less than a year)

    Pros

Great pay, innovative, cool clients, exposure to industry

    Cons

It's unbelievable to see the quality employees passed over and worked to the bone in favor of bringing in outsiders at the Partner and Director level. Word almost always gets out that they knew Mike Brinker in a former role or all the way back to college.

    Advice to Management

    Stop the cronyism
