I have been working at Deloitte full-time (More than a year)

    Pros

A wide variety of projects working with a wide variety of people in several different places.

    Cons

I was hired into an offering that has seen very few projects come through. The outlook for Advisory in general is bleak and layoffs are happening. Crappy raises and an increased minimum 45 hour work week.

I worked at Deloitte as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

    Steady work

Office is nice and has a great view

Unlimited (but unpaid) days off if you give notice

    Flex time

    Cons

Management lies and says they're going to hire you full time to get you to stay there and do the same work full time employees are doing

Good luck getting hired full time if you're a minority

Expensive parking unless you want to park in an unsafe area

    No benefits

    Advice to Management

Don't tell contractors you're going to hire them full time just to get them to stay and meet last second deadlines you didn't properly foresee. I'm glad I woke up and found a full time job. Perhaps it wouldn't look so bad if the contractors you did hire weren't all white males. There were plenty of minorities who were qualified. I will say my experience there did help me get my current job though...so thanks for that.

I worked at Deloitte as a contractor (More than a year)

    Pros

Free food. Decent managers - some were better than others. A few managers had a good grasp of what was going on. Flexible hours (usually). Overtime. Nice facility. Good experience if you're looking to go into a non-traditional legal career.

    Cons

Sometimes expected to work long, unreasonable hours. Some manager have no idea what they're doing. I've never seen so many poor decisions made by a management team until I worked here; very little. Little pushback when it came to unreasonable deadlines which forced many to work long work weeks totaling not well over 50 hours. Managers cut contractors for no good reason but let others stay even though they broke several guild lines.

    Advice to Management

You run the risk of burning out your contractors and FTEs. You need to understand your projects so you can make better decisions on how to complete them and pushback on your clients if they're making unreasonable demands.

I have been working at Deloitte (More than 3 years)

    Pros

Great exposure to a number of different industries if your not in a big city.
Exposure will definitely be viewed positively by future employers. If you can handle three years and some how manage not to get addicted to the kool-aid your opportunities in industry are endless

    Cons

Most managers are not ready to manage people. Toxic work environment

    Advice to Management

Need to rethink the culture your managers are creating. No company is to big to fall!

    Pros

Great people who are really invested in your personal and professional development. Compensation and benefits are very attractive and the hours were very reasonable.

    Cons

There wasn't much work to keep the interns busy, so days could get long and boring.

I worked at Deloitte full-time (More than 10 years)

    Pros

Interesting work. Lots of great professionals. Outstanding networking opportunities. Very competitive salary and benefits. Lots of flexibility. Good training programs.

    Cons

Very high pressure environment. Lots of long hours with little control over work life balance. Very unusual staffing model. Lines of reporting very blurred.

    Advice to Management

Figure out how to "play to each individuals strengths and minimize weaknesses " Acknowledge that people have different strengths and weaknesses and that the team could be stronger of if management could understand that one size fits all is not the best strategy.
