    I have been working at Deloitte full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Good career progression in consulting. Great opportunity to move between clients and projects. Get the opportunity to work with and learn from very intelligent people.

    Cons

    No benefits i.e. overtime, health insurance, pension is only allowable at 28 years old. Technology consulting salaries aren't competitive versus most big software companies.

    Pros

    Good business development and managerial experience Variety of clients and project work, not pigeonholed (early on, anyway) Friendly and amicable employees Overtime compensated with time off in lieu (TOIL)

    Cons

    Almost no technical work at all - tonnes of client interviews, workshops, report / proposal writing, etc, but no hands on cyber security work in any way. I feel it is more suited to someone wanting to go down the managerial / business development route, and not the people who love to dive into the systems and tinker Possibly a lot of awkward travel without a choice, could be put in uncomfortable working conditions... on client premises

    I worked at Deloitte full-time for more than 3 years

    Pros

    Small probability (~5% chance when you join) you hit the jackpot and are randomly assigned to project which leads to a career track with great prospects. For these people, Deloitte provides the best early experience available in Ireland. Work life balance is unevenly distributed; you could get lucky (if that's what you want) and only work 36 hour weeks with engaging work and smart energetic colleagues.... Compensation is good relative to other roles in Big 4 companies.

    Cons

    ~70% chance you get rented out to a big company for 3-5 years to do work that the client wouldn't give their own staff for fear they would leave. No learning opportunities. No realistic prospects if you leave Deloitte. Earning significantly less than if you worked for the client directly. Culture of "being responsible for your own reputation" has led to a culture of covering up mistakes (even covering up... abuse formally reported to HR) and failing to take responsibility. Compensation is still much weaker than industry standards. Bizarre performance appraisal process correlates more with popularity than performance, and therefore your "grade" is decided by how many different people you get to work with during the projects you are randomly assigned. Work life balance is unevenly distributed; I've seen people working 80-90 hours per week, on their own, for months at a time, only to be deeply criticised at the appraisal meeting for having a poor work ethic.

    Advice to Management

    Management talk about the changes that need to be made as if they already exist: taking responsibility, seeking feedback, constant improvement, intellectual curiosity. None of these features are present on the ground. It is unclear whether management are unmotivated or don't know how to implement these changes.

    Given responsibility for deliverables from the start, Good culture Most senior management are generous with their time Most colleagues are great to work with.

    Cons

    Hours can be demanding at times, Not all teams are as welcoming/give responsibility to graduates. Progression up through ranks is relatively standardised even for graduates with previous experience Compensation is slightly behind some competitors for junior staff

    Maintain open communication with more junior staff Allow accelerated progression for those who show promise.

    Good company, nice infrastructure and have very nice projects and clients

    Cons

    Work more hours than the contract without any additional payment Often they ask you to use your anual leave to compensate for clients problems Hard to change to another client/project Low salary compared with the average of the market. No performance bonus

    Advice to Management

    They should look to the market to be sure if the salary they offering are compatible They should also try to follow other companies that offer more benefits but do the same work in the same client The management are only interested in deadlines and cost and don't care about the workers
